Let’s Get It Done!

Today one of my friends was reviewing NRLC’s (National Right to Life Committee) stance against all state efforts to end abortion. She cut and pasted the following statement by James Bopp, Jr., legal counsel for NRLC:

“The Supreme Court’s current makeup assures that a declared federal constitutional right to abortion remains secure for the present. This means that now is not the time to pass state constitutional amendments or bills banning abortion because (1) such provisions will be quickly struck down by a federal district court, (2) that decision will be affirmed by an appellate court, (3) the Supreme Court will not grant review of the decision, and (4) the pro-abortion attorneys who brought the legal challenge will collect statutory attorneys fees from the state that enacted the provision in the amount of hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

Besides the fact that Mr. Bopp’s first three reasons reveal that apparently he has a crystal ball and the ability to tell us all what the future holds, note the 4th point very carefully. We shouldn’t attempt in any way to challenge Roe v. Wade because we might end up giving pro-abort lawyers a couple hundred thousand dollars.

Currently we give Planned Parenthood 350 million a year in tax money. I’m not sure how slimy lawyers collecting enough in legal fees to buy a house is a real road block in the fight for life. Does Mr. Bopp sound like a man who is desperate to stop abortion immediately? Does NRLC sound like they are using fundraising dollars to obtain legal counsel that is urgently seeking to save the 4,000 babies slaughtered daily?

It’s time for a Scottish Revival in the pro-life movement. What’s a Scottish Revival? Just this: No one gets saved, but a lot of chaff gets blown away.

Bye bye, Chaff. Hello, Abolish Abortion ‘08. Stay tuned for more details.
