A New Genocide Rages
By Rev. Stephen Broden
Thursday, July 23, 2009
A scourge of epic proportions is ravaging the black community. This pestilence is the No. 1 killer of blacks, exceeding all other causes of death combined, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, violent crimes and HIV/AIDS. It is called abortion, or “womb lynching” by those of us who know the motives of its financiers, and it claims 50 percent of black offspring each year, about 700,000 children. An estimated 25 percent of blacks are “missing” because they did not survive pregnancy. The most dangerous place for a black child to be is in his or her mother’s womb. The black community is being incrementally snuffed out through abortion.
More blacks die in one week through womb lynching (more than 8,400) than were killed in 100 years of post-Civil War lynchings in America (an estimated 3,457). This is a genocide, a holocaust, a “Maafa,” that is eliminating our children and our future.
Where in the black community is the outrage? Where are our leaders? Unfortunately, far too many of the community and political leaders are complicit through their silence, perhaps because they benefit financially by supporting the multibillion-dollar abortion industry. It is estimated that since 1973, abortionists have profited by about $4 billion from the abortion of black babies, and this means abortionists have the means to lavishly support politicians who do their bidding.
Planned Parenthood has targeted our babies and women with the full support of our political leaders under the doctrine of a woman’s right to choose. The buy-in of the Congressional Black Caucus is essential to their success, so you can bet there will always be a place for CBC members on the Planned Parenthood political-contribution lists.
Regrettably, black pastors have been abusively silent. Many believe abortion is a white evangelical issue. This is disgraceful in light of the fact that black women account for only 6.8 percent of the female population but undergo approximately 35.5 percent of all abortions.
Black women have more abortions than any other ethnic group. Pastors who stand by silent are false shepherds who need to revisit Jeremiah 23:1-2: “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord. Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.”
Black political leaders are no less culpable. President Obama and most, if not all, of the Congressional Black Caucus support the culture of death by their appropriation of taxpayer funds for Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry to the tune of more than $300 million dollars annually.
Mr. Obama’s first 100 days in office will be forever marked with his clear support of the evil practice of abortion, as seen in his lifting the Mexico City ban and funding embryonic stem cell research. How can this be? The first black president of America supports the extinction of his own people through his unflinching support of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, which is responsible for murdering more blacks in any given week than the Ku Klux Klan did in its entire history.
The behavior of Mr. Obama and the Black Congressional Caucus are inexplicable. Hispanic families have three to five babies per family, white families are having two babies per family, and black families are having 0.9 babies per family. Yet our president and our political leaders have been unswerving in their support of the abortion industry. Something is foul here, and the community needs to demand answers.
The black community has fought abortion for years. In the 1960s, black leaders resisted Planned Parenthood’s attempts to build their death clinics in our community. This amid reports of federally funded state programs seeking to sterilize young black women. Our leaders were our gatekeepers. Pastors and community leaders stood strong in their opposition to these death merchants.
What happened? Why are they now almost unanimously standing with the eugenics community to provide reproductive murder of black women? Running for political office in America these days is expensive, and Planned Parenthood is a multibillion-dollar industry with capital to invest in those who support their bottom line. Whatever reason the president or the Congressional Black Caucus use to abdicate their leadership responsibility to protect our children and community is unacceptable. We demand answers now!
The black pro-life supporters are looking not to reduce the “need” for abortions, we seek to eliminate it altogether. We not only demand answers from our president, and the black caucus, but also from Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele, who has been silent on this genocidal holocaust.
We expect Mr. Steele to use his bully pulpit to address this scourge and galvanize the black community to purge all death clinics out and away from our women and babies.
