Following is a list, as best we can determine, of Nevada’s abortion providers.
There is no indication that the following video clip, which condenses a little girls’ life from birth to 12 years old, was produced from a pro-life point of view. Nevertheless, Lotte Hofmeester’s life shown here really says all that needs to be said about the inhumanity and injustice of abortion.

Dear Pro-Life Legislators

Keep your heads down and keep passing legislation - waiting periods, medical consultations, and ultra-sound pictures showing the child’s heart beating within - that requires women be given the opportunity to comprehend and reflect upon the magnitude of aborting a child’s life. These measures have proven to save the lives of children and spare women years, often a lifetime, of grief, regret and self-recrimination.

But if you really want to boost those numbers, pass a law requiring women contemplating abortion be given the opportunity to spend 2 minutes and 45 seconds viewing the condensed version of Lotte Hofmeester’s life portrayed in this beautiful video.

Because that is what abortion is really about - the lives that never will be.

Current abortion law in Nevada leans overall in favor of a pro-abortion position

Abortion Rights
Nevada law affirms a “fundamental right to abortion” during the first 24 weeks of fetal development. The law is worded to maintain a right to abortion even in the event of Roe v Wade being overturned.

That statute does, however, also maintain a “Post Viability” ban on third trimester abortions. Recent advances in medical technology call into question the validity of an arbitrary rule on fetus viability and could make this a possible point of contention. Numerous states are also working on passing Fetal Pain legislation which prohibits abortions beyond 20 weeks of development. This might be another avenue for restricting abortions here

Licensing Requirements For Abortionists
Abortionists must be physicians licensed to practice medicine in the state of Nevada (NARAL refers to this as a “burdensome restriction”)

Taxpayer Funding Of Abortion
Nevada law prohibits the use of taxpayer funds for abortions including women on Medicaid

Informed Consent
Nevada requires that women seeking an abortion must first discuss with a physician or “other qualified person” the state of her baby’s development, the procedure used to terminate the child’s life, and the possible physical and/or emotional after effects of undergoing an abortion.

Parental Notification
In 1991 Nevada passed a Parental Notification law requiring abortion providers to obtain the consent of at least one parent before providing abortions for girls under 18 years of age. The law was challenged by Planned Parenthood and declared unconstitutional by the notoriously liberal 9th Circuit Federal Court Of Appeals. Nevada’s Attorney General chose not to appeal the decision.

An interesting note is that Montana passed a virtually identical law which was also struck down by the 9th Circuit. Montana, however, won an appeal to the US Supreme Court. In that decision, Lambert v Wickland, the Supreme Court specifically cited the 9th Circuit ruling against NV as an example of “judicial misinterpretation”.

It would seem therefore that Nevada can provide parental protection for teenage girls by simply re-passing the 1991 law and citing Lambert v Wickland in the inevitable Planned Parenthood challenge.

Conscious Protection
Nevada provides Conscious Protection for doctors and healthcare workers who decline to perform or assist in abortions for religious, moral or ethical reasons. Private hospitals are not required to permit their facilities to be used for abortions except in case of medical emergencies.

Religious organizations, and private insurance companies providing healthcare plans for religious organizations, are exempted from offering otherwise mandatory coverage for contraception.

Pharmacists, however, may not decline to fill any prescription for religious, moral or ethical reasons.

Summary
Though Nevada provides for a “fundamental right to abortion”, a coordinated lobbying effort by the pro-life community could increase common sense restrictions on abortion in the areas of Fetal Viability, Fetal Pain and especially in establishing a Parental Consent requirement for girls under 18 years of age.

About

Jerry and Barbara Weyrich of Nevada are the Pro-Life Unity Nevada representatives

The goal of Pro-Life Unity NV is to develop greater unity and cohesion of effort among Nevada’s five major pro-life organizations and local and church affiliated pro-life groups. We will be working toward that goal by posting articles, videos and alerts to publicize pro-life efforts in NV.

What attracted us to Pro-Life Unity is their inter-faith approach to overcoming abortion. The barbarity of abortion could end within an election cycle if Christian America would only stand united in defense of God’s unborn children, our brothers and sisters in Christ.

To that end we will work with the pro-life community in Nevada to further Pro-Life Unity’s mission to bring Christian churches who maintain a neutral position on abortion into the pro-life cause. If you are a member of such a church, we can help

We encourage all NV pro-life groups to contact us with:
1) basic information - name, any church affiliation, contact information, meeting times, etc
2) activities and events - clinic vigils, prayer groups, fundraising efforts
3) any resources you can provide for pregnant women in crisis

We welcome and need your ideas and suggestions for promoting and strengthening the pro-life cause in Nevada.

Fight fire with lies. Haul out the “pro-choice clergy” puppets to concoct a mocking counter to 40 Days For Life. Behold Planned Parenthood’s “Forty Days Of Prayer” - 40 Days For Death.

Planned Parenthood of Eureka, California initiated “40 Days of Prayer: Supporting Women Everywhere”. The ugly farce consists of 40 one or two line invocations of well worn feminist cliché‘s, pro-abortion tripe and transparent euphemisms.

To profess these ditties as “prayers”, and to utilize the name of Jesus when promoting the “choice” of abortion and honoring abortionists, is nothing less than blasphemy.

The happy little group pictured above are PP Eureka’s Clergy for Choice. Ministers who have abandoned the tenets of the Bible to answer the call of a higher power - liberalism. And in following that calling, these ministers willingly allow themselves to be manipulated as marketing tools for MS Richards and the Culture Of Death.

Those smiling faces, purporting to be God’s representatives on earth, are the snares of Satan luring frightened Christian women struggling with their faith and their consciences -

See, God understands, and is just fine with, your “choice” to take your baby’s life in one of our loving, caring abortion clinics. Just come in, and we will make everything right for you

Blasphemy is actually an understatement.

The 40 Days For Life Campaigns offer women hope. Throughout each campaign, hundreds of thousands of prayers are offered for women contemplating abortion. Prayers that these women may overcome their fears and place their faith and trust in Almighty God’s love and providence. A choice no woman has ever regretted.

Planned Parenthood plays and profits upon women’s despair. Planned Parenthood’s “prayers” noticeably profess no faith or trust in God in the midst of a crisis pregnancy, only liberal rationalizations for “choosing” death for their babies and glorification of the abortionist.

And where will Planned Parenthood’s “clergy for choice” be when thousands of the women they deceptively lulled into abortion find themselves overwhelmed with grief and despairing of God’s forgiveness?

Perhaps those smiling faces will be outside Planned Parenthood Eureka, pimping for Ms Richards in another 40 Days For Death Campaign and joyfully reciting Isaiah 28:15 -

“We have cut a deal with Death, and we have made an agreement with Sheol. When the overwhelming scourge passes through it will not touch us, because we have made falsehood our refuge and have hidden behind treachery”.

Here’s are the details as reported by the participants

“This one happening late last week, as a result of Cyndy listening to God’s call and coming to the sidewalk to pray and encourage frightened
parents make a better choice.”

“You see Cyndy was also carrying a sign that read “I Regret My Abortion.” Her prayerful, honest witness to the truth of abortion encouraged a Spanish speaking couple to stop. The husband shared in his halting English that his wife was having trouble with Gall Stones and had been told that she could not be treated until after she had an abortion.”

“Thanks be to God, Cyndy came prepared with our list of local pregnancy resources and “Before You Choose” tri-fold brochures (we have them available in Spanish and English). While Cyndy doesn’t speak Spanish, she was able to communicate with this husband who was obviously concerned about the health of his wife and was only doing what the medical professionals had told them was necessary. Imagine how relieved he was when she gave them the phone number of the local pregnancy center who are prepared to help couples who want to spare the life of their unborn child.”

“Because this was a case where the couple had been told by medical personnel that there was a risk to the mother, they were referred to the local ER, but after being reassured that an abortion was in no way medically necessary, they returned the following day to the pregnancy center where they will receive the life affirming help they had been seeking.”

This was a case of callous indifference on the part of someone in the medical profession which almost cost the life of a baby boy or girl and a couple a lifetime of regret.

As the couple learned, it is perfectly feasible to treat Gall Stones and high blood pressure during pregnancy without risk to either the mother or her baby. So there seem to be only two possibilities here. Either the physician in question simply thought it would be easier or, since the mother seems to be of limited resources, cheaper to treat her if she were not pregnant.

Or the doctor has a referral fee arrangement with the West End Women’s Medical Group. Either way, this is another example of how the culture of death has corrupted the medical profession.

The 40 Days For Life Campaigns are about God working through his people. Both of the babies saved by the Reno-Tahoe campaign this spring are alive today simply because dedicated pro-life counselors were standing vigil outside an abortion clinic when their frightened parents needed someone to offer them hope and a way to give their children life.

The children will likely never know. But their parents will remember the loving dedication of those 40 Days volunteers as they watch their babies grow.

There were doubtlessly also other babies saved through the pamphlets handed out, the “I Regret My Abortion” signs, and simply by the sight of people praying outside an abortion clinic. God’s work.

And God’s blessings on all of His children who made the Reno-Tahoe 40 Days For Life Campaign a life saving success.

Gumble Is this a court, am I under oath… (hic) what time is it anyway?

Dodd (squeezing Gumble’s shoulder) Uh… Madame Chair, if I may, Mr Gumble has just finished his mid-term exams in Animal Husbandry and has been under a great deal of pressure which he had to ease with several cocktails during his flight here…

Gumble They said I gotta’ take the bus back…

Dodd Barney, please… as I was saying Madame Chair, it might be best if, as his advisor, I speak on Mr Gumble’s behalf. Our position is crystal clear based upon Ms Sandra Fluke’s testimony, and we should be able to wrap this up quickly

Pelosi Yes, I, ah… I think that would be appreciated Mr Dodd

Dodd Madame Chair, I think we can all agree that the soundness and logic of Ms Fluke’s testimony indicates that due to the enormous pressures our nation’s college students find themselves under - exams, grade point pressure, concerns over the job market, cleaning their own rooms, etc - that it is important they are all able participate in some type of activity, or have some outlet, to ease that pressure

Pelosi I concur Mr Dodd, your point is well made, please continue

Dodd And I think we can conclude from the fact that Ms Fluke is seeking assistance in purchasing contraception and, if necessary, abortifacient drugs, that her participation in sexual activity is primarily for recreational purposes - Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That, of course

Pelosi Not that there’s anything wrong with that (entire committee nods affirmatively)

<img src="http://prolifeunity.com/images/uploads/Drunken_College_Students.jpg" align="left" hspace="4" vspace="4 border="0" alt="image" name="image" width="330" height="185" />Dodd But not everyone is equipped, shall we say, to attract agreeable partners. Some college students require, or indeed as in young Barney’s case, actually prefer a different form of outlet, a different way to cope. And that outlet, Madame Chair, has always been alcohol

Gumble Yeh, (raise’s hand as in drinking toast) to cope!

Pelosi Mr Dodd surely you’re not suggesting that the government..

Dodd It is not merely a suggestion, Madame Chair. Based upon your committee’s decision on behalf of Ms Fluke, it should be Mr Gumble’s right to obtain, at no expense to himself, sufficient alcoholic beverages to enable him to handle the pressures associated with his pursuit of a college degree in Animal Husbandry

Pelosi But Mr Dodd, really…

Dodd Ms Pelosi, our President’s policies are based upon fairness and equal access for all, are they not? It is well known that 99% of all college students choose to drink to excess. Are not struggling students like Mr Gumble entitled to the same unimpeded access to beer and Tequila shooters as Ms Fluke is to a monthly allotment of birth control pills or whatever she uses?

(Dodd rises from chair) And if I may remind the committee that, speaking from my years of experience in public service, there is no more appreciative voter than a well plied college student

Pelosi (shrugs and glances at other committee members who all shake their heads affirmatively)

Mr Gumble, the committee is unanimous in our understanding and sympathy for your position. We will immediately begin drafting a recommendation to the Department Of Health And Human Services to mandate all colleges provide unimpeded, free access to alcoholic beverages throughout the Fall & Spring terms, albeit with a provision that beer only be provided during the shorter summer sessions

Gumble (looks up at Dodd) Do I win?

Dodd Just a minute Barney, we need to clarify an important point. Even, Madame Chair, if a student’s intention is to drink to excess? Into a stupor, if so desired? Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That

Pelosi Yes Mr Dodd, every college student in America will be able to drink as much as they want. This committee’s position is that there is nothing wrong with anything people choose to do. God gave us free will didn’t He? (committee gets up and files out)

Gumble (shouts to Pelosi as she leaves room) Thanks your honor!

Gee Mr Dodd, what a nice lady. I mean she’s like smilin’ all the time. Wonder if I could get my face to stay like that

Dodd You couldn’t afford it right now Barney. But… if the president wins that second term… I happen to know that soon to be former Congressman Frank will be advising the National Association Of Cosmetic Surgeons and he just might be interested in bringing you back here

Come’ Barney, I’ll buy us a couple of six packs on the way to bus station

Prominent Reno Abortionist Fears The Cross

As we detailed in our last post, Stutes is notorious for his use of blatant tactics to dissuade pro-life demonstrators and sidewalk counselors. Signs posted on clinic property label pro-lifers as “Terrorists” and blasphemously ask for patients to “Pray To End Side Walk Bullying”. Loud obnoxious music is blared toward sidewalk demonstrators, high powered sprinklers are periodically turned on them, and Stutes himself makes occasional appearances to scream obscenities.

Why? Because the pro-life community in Reno has been very effective in getting women to think about the horrible realities of abortion and to realize there are far better “choices” for their babies, and themselves, than Doc Stutes. So effective that during the 40 Days For Life Campaign 2010, Stutes drove his car off the road and mowed down a row of pro-life signs that were displayed on public property. Stutes, however, apparently was never charged with a crime.

A group titled End Abortion Reno posted the following video on their You Tube channel

The group draws images of the Cross in the dirt, and places small wooden Crosses along the sidewalk, during their demonstrations near Stute’s clinic. Immediately upon the group’s departure, Stutes herds clinic employees into the street to wipe out the images.

What would Stutes have to fear from the Cross? No, we thought of that, but Stutes has often been seen in the sunlight.

The last thing Stutes the businessman wants is for his customers to see a Cross. It might cause them to think about what they are doing. The Cross represents Jesus’ love for all mankind and His victory over death. The Cross calls to mind the ultimate selfless act in which Christ gave up His life that others might live forever.

Stute’s West End Women’s Medical is a place where helpless baby girls and boys are put to death simply because they have been labeled as burdensome inconveniences. “Abortion rights” is all about self obsession. One must die, so the other can live as she “chooses”, unencumbered by responsibility.

And contrasting the love and compassion of Jesus with the inhumanity of abortion is just plain bad for Doc Stute’s business.

Pro-abortionists have dubbed Stutes’ clinic as “Fort Abortion” because of the tactics he employs against pro-life demonstrators and counselors - blasting loud music to drown out prayers, turning on the sprinkler systems, and, on at least one occasion (video on YouTube), bending over and graphically offering something to kiss (pro-lifers need strong stomachs in more ways than one).

All of this was to no avail on the first day vigil before the clinic which saw a young couple leave the clinic and turn to members of the 40 Days campaign for help. Here’s first hand account

“I (Theresa) headed to the sidewalk just before 1pm. I barely remembered to grab my ‘I Regret My Abortion’ sign on the way out the door. The usual foul music was blasting from the outdoor speakers and all the ‘anti-protester’ signs were posted.

A short time later three other women arrived, (Pat) two of which had never prayed at the sidewalk before. By that time four or five vehicles with girls in them had pulled into the abortionist’s driveway. I was praying specifically that God would stir a heart within the building. I stopped praying as a friend of mine (Rachel) pulled up in her car, stopping only long enough to say that she wasn’t going to be able to stay but for a moment this day.

At that moment an SUV pulled out of the driveway, the girl was obviously crying in the passenger seat. Her boyfriend rolled down the window and said, ‘she didn’t do it, she saw your sign and didn’t want to do it anymore’. This 20 year old man’s heart was soft toward his 21 year old girlfriend. He said that they would need help.

The couple pulled their SUV over as my friend ran to her car to get resources for them, resources I didn’t remember to bring with my sign. I’m glad my friend was there! They were both so grateful that we were there praying and sharing our personal hurt. I’m so grateful that God can make beauty from ashes. I am so grateful that two new people to 40 Days for Life got to experience God’s saving power through prayer!”

With abortions continuing a the rate of 3,500 - 4,000 per day, many people who are opposed to abortion on principle, simply shake their heads and wonder what difference could they possibly make in the face of the powerful pro-abortion lobby in America.

The 40 Days For Life Campaigns have shown what we can all do in spite of these seemingly insurmountable odds - join together in prayer and fasting with the goal of saving one baby at a time.
