§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

1 Thessalonians 3:12, 13

Thought/Prayer:  Brotherly Affection?!  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.”

In his inaugural address on April 30,1789, George Washington prayed that Americans might “entertain a Brotherly affection and love for, one another as fellow citizens.”  “But we can’t do this as Christians-for-life! No, we can’t!” we say or think.  “Our opponents are wily and mean!”

A question:  In our prayers, if we cannot “entertain Brotherly affection and love” because we dwell under the same flag if for no other reason, how can we effectively pray for those who, though dwelling under the same flag, take a hard opposite view of the issues of LIFE?  Here, our first President knew that all Americans did not agree; he had just been through a war where some resisted opposing the king.  Yet he calls for affection and love.

Does Mr. Washington mean I must be warm and fuzzy toward those who oppose my views on abortion and euthanasia?  Certainly not.  But I can view these strong opponents with the affection that comes from being created by the same God who views all of his human creations with love and a desire that they will know Him and come to Him.  The scripture above tells me I cannot exclude any person from God’s love, no matter how ungodly – “one another and . . .all men. . . “

Today pray to have God’s view of others.  Pray that, even though we oppose them, God will let us see through the proud and despicable ways of others—so we can pray for them and God’s purposes in their lives.

Topics:  Pray for anyone who opposes LIFE.
Pray for anyone who is unable to pray for those who oppose LIFE, that we will be able to pray as God sees them, just as He viewed the enemy Saul of Tarsus who became His beloved Paul the apostle.
