§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

2 Chronicles 34:31, 32 (Pt. 5)  Thought/Prayer:  Perform the Words.  Topics:  2 at e

“And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.  And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at

This good king, Josiah, was wholehearted for God.  Perhaps this is one quality that made him great in ruling over his people.  King Josiah not only pledged to keep God’s commandments, testimonies and statutes . . . He pledged to keep them with all his heart and soul.  The way we often put it, anything having to do with both heart and soul means something given over to greatly.

When we say that we commit with our hearts, we are speaking of the love center of our lives.  The heart is thought of as the center of our emotions, the major source of love and of our energy toward living.  Some might say that the heart is part of our “essence” as persons.

Josiah pledged with his soul also.  Considering that the soul could be considered the center of our being as created by God, then the king was pledging the very core of his being.  Yes, this good king meant these commitments in the greatest degree.

So what did he pledge so greatly?  He pledged to keep what God commanded.  He also pledged to perform the words of the covenant.  In action, he would keep that to which he pledged.  He would walk the covenant as well as pledge to it.

May we do the same.  Christians know what God desires of us in following His ways and walking in His covenant.  In pro-life arenas, do we keep God’s covenant by standing up for created life?  We believe that we do.  We follow in the ways of the Author of all life.  And as we are often assigned in the Bible, we follow Christ in deed as well as word.  Part of this is standing up for the defenseless unborn.

Lord, thank You for opportunity to stand for the life that You create and in doing so, we can commit to your commandments to serve the weak (I Thessalonians 5:14 for example).  We ask that we may be so committed to this that we will be able to honor You and keep Your commandments, as King Josiah and the Israelites did so pledge.
