§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

2 Chronicles 34:31,32 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer: They Stood to Commitment. Topics:  2 at end.

“And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.  And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at

The people of Jerusalem and Benjamin were caused to stand to it by King Josiah.  Stand to what?  They committed to take a stand for the principles and laws of God.  Their forefathers had not done this, and when it was discovered, a new commitment was made to correct this great error of not following God’s law.

So did they?  Did they stand to it?

Yes, we are told, “And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.”  We’re told in verse 34 (AKJV), “And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.”

Josiah was a wonderfully good king who loved God; and this love became a part of the people’s lifestyle after he renewed their commitment to God and they stood to it.

Christians today may follow the same pathway.  We still must follow God’s laws, even His laws given in the Old Testament such as the Ten Commandments.  But the law of love is the overriding law for believers.  When we fail God and go against His laws – laws of love through Jesus Christ – we deserve His discipline, in whatever form it may take.  Then if we are wise and quite sincere about our walk of faith, we will recommit to Him and will once again serve Him better.

Perhaps we fall off a bit in our pro-LIFE work.  Confess it, re-commit, and continue on in greater devotion.  God is always waiting for us to return to Him in renewal.  He’s the god of renewal, day in and day out.  In Psalm 51, King David himself asked God to renew his spirit and to give him a clean heart.

Lord, when we know that we are giving you less than our whole heart, convict us to confess to you and then answer our requests for renewed commitment in service to You.  Then we will be able to help those who need encouragement in LIFE’s hard decisions.  We will be able to help because we have recommitted to You, just as King Josiah and the Israelites did.

Topics:  Pray for the willingness to confess our shortcomings to God and for willingness to then recommit to Him in order to serve Him and others.
