§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

2 Chronicles 34:31,32 Thought/Prayer:  Standing Up.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.  And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at

King Josiah reigned in Jerusalem and was a good king, doing right in the sight of God.  He reigned for 31 years.  When the book of the law was found in the house of the Lord, the king became very disturbed because the rulers and the people before him had not followed the words of the law that were in the book.  So Josiah read the words of the book to all the people.  And we are told this:

The king stood and made a total covenant before God, pledging to walk in His ways with total heart and soul and to commit to do what the law required as written in the book.

And: “. . . he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it [italics added].”

To stand to it.  What an image this can bring to our minds.  All the people heard the law; the king made a covenant with God to keep His commandments.  And then they were caused to stand to it.  What could this mean?  They agreed and we can imagine them standing up on their feet for all that was said and done.  They stood up for this good covenant-making.

Isn’t that how we do it sometimes?  When we are convicted about something and agree to do it, we stand up as an indication of true intent.  Standing on our feet for something means we intend to do it.  We commit our whole body, our whole selves.  It’s an act of honor.

We pro-lifers are always standing for something having to do with the honoring of created life.  For many of us, our stand will take us to abortion facilities where we stand on the sidewalk and pray or offer counsel.  This is an obvious and direct standing for LIFE.

Lord, thank You for this account of Your people making a stand for You and Your law so many centuries ago.  Thank you that we understand what it means to stand up on our feet for something.  Thank You for those who go to abortion facilities to make their stance clear to all who witness this stand for LIFE.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom as to whether to go to an abortion facility to make a direct stand for LIFE.
