§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

2 Chronicles 7:14   Thought/Prayer:  The Land and the People.  Topics:  2 at end.

“If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  ASV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

There are times during any year when our attention is turned to things-patriotic, such as Memorial Day or the 4th of July.  We Christians do love our country – very much.  So should we not display our love by joining with all other Americans to celebrate this God-given land of ours.  We sing, we pray, we give thanks, all as we should do.

At times like these perhaps we gain hope, hope such as comes from scriptures such as this one in II Chronicles.  Not only does this Word from God tell us that He will hear us, he tells us He will heal our land.

Does this scripture mean the people?  Does it mean the land, physically, the dirt and such?  Could it mean both?  In the Old Testament, the land itself is extremely important to God.  The growing of great crops depended upon His blessing on the land if His children were being obedient.

And, of course, the people living in His land were extremely important to Him.  It seems good to me, not knowing any root-word meaning here, to think that He does heal both the people in our land and the land itself when we pray.  When we humble ourselves and pray and ask for forgiveness, that is.

Lord, at times of reflection in our national life, help us to claim your promises, especially this one regarding our land.  Bless our land, Lord.  We do humble ourselves and beseech you to forgive us, to bless us, and to heal us.  Especially, Lord, help those with LIFE-threatening issues, whether it be illness or abortion or euthanasia, to humble themselves and seek You.  We ask you to bless them.

Topics:  Pray for a humble spirit before the Lord.
