§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Acts 17:10,11 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Refreshment, Unexpected.  Topics:  2 at end.

“The brethren at once sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea, and they, on their arrival, went to the synagogue of the Jews. The Jews at Beroea were of a nobler disposition than those in Thessalonica, for they very readily received the Message, and day after day searched the Scriptures to see whether it was as Paul stated.”  WEY (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

How encouraging for Paul and Silas to be sent away from trouble (in Thessalonica – people being stirred up to riot degrees, by those who did not appreciate their teachings) and then to find themselves in Berea where God’s Word was accepted (but must be proofed, of course), welcomed, and cherished.  Sometimes it seems that God gives us a little vacation from bad times and worry, threats and ugliness.  Thank God for these reprieves.

Paul underwent many tough times in His stand for our Lord, including beatings, hunger and shipwreck.  But he just kept on keeping on, even returning to some of the sites where he was treated unkindly.

Sometimes the cares and unasked for challenges in life seem to wear us down to nothing.  Sometimes when we don’t know how to help someone in LIFE’s life-and-death choices situations we feel beaten down because we feel helpless in the face of their great challenges; we don’t know how to help and get close to being hopeless for them.

But then there will be a ray of light, such as the Bereans provided for Paul and Silas.  A scripture will come to us; someone will unknowingly say something that really helps; a thought from above (God) will catch our inner attention, and we will begin to be refreshed.  Sometimes the refreshment comes in an unforeseen solution to someone’s problem . . . a turn-around in thought and decision.

Lord, we thank You for these folks in Berea who have set such an example for centuries.  Please help us to follow their example and apply ourselves to Your Word.  Then perhaps we will be a bright oasis of refreshment and help for others.

Topics:  Pray for diligence in the scriptures without relenting in our quest for truth.
