§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Acts 17:24-28 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Our Commonality.  Topics:  2 at end.

“The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings, that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Today we will consider another portion of this scripture:  “He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings, that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.”  It’s the “one blood” term that catches the eye.

Never would this writing attempt to explain all that this term means.  But from a practical, if overly simplistic, viewpoint, we might say that this is the greatest commonality of humankind that could ever exist.  The blood God created for our bodies is the common denominator of our shared humanity.  It does not matter our gender or race or appearance or body build.  We all have blood, and it is of the same formula, we might say.

Have you ever thought about the fact that race or ethnic group is not considered when donating blood?  Yes, this is true.  It doesn’t matter; we are all of “one blood.”

Here’s what I’m considering.  From the most ancient grandpa to the preborn in the womb, we all are of one blood.  Perhaps this is one big stand for LIFE in the womb.  When we willfully take it away through a choice to kill, we are taking away one manifestation of God’s design for the people He created.  We are choosing to take from the Earth someone as close to us as our own blood.

If this seems too heavy, it is not intended that way.  This is just something to think about when praying about abortion.  Perhaps we should claim our commonality before God, to spare those who are at risk, as being in essence part of our own selves.  Lord, help us to pray fervently for those at risk for this loss.

Topics: Pray for God to convict us about this shared aspect of the human form, that the blood within us be honored, not destroyed at will.
