§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Acts 17:24-28   Thought/Prayer:  Know Your Audience.  Topics:  2 at end.

“The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things. He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings, that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at

The apostle Paul was in Athens and spoke to the men of the city about all of the altars in the city, altars to gods that they worshipped.  Paul calls attention to one altar, “to an unknown God.”  He tells them that this God, the One God, is now known and that he is the “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands; . . .”  “The One God.”  Yes, one God, the God that Christians love and worship.  And, interestingly, Paul says that certain Greek poets have written that we “are His offspring.”

Yes, our God is One God, the only One.  He does not come in many forms or wish to be worshipped in temples; or at altars to, or to images of, gods that are no gods.  The poet he references with “In him we live, and move, and have our being,” was Aratus, in his Phaenomena in the third century BC, in the opening invocation to Zeus.  The point here, is: Paul knew his audience.  He knew how to address the educated Greek men with mentions of a quote by one of their poets.  Paul was a scholar, and He used his knowledge to connect with these learned men.

Do we, as persons who stand for created LIFE, know our audiences?  Are we read-up, and/or prepared in other ways, to speak with others about our stance for created life?  What does this take anyway, this preparation?

Of course it will be different for each one of us.  Some of us will gather booklets or pamphlets on the subject of life and how God created it.  Some of us will pour over scriptures that speak of God’s love of His creation, including love for people.  Some will take to political arenas to make a statement, after searching out the best approaches to tout LIFE.  But however we do this, it is fundamental to know our audience.

Lord, help us to know how to approach those to whom we are called to witness for Your created life.  Use our gifts and personalities to promote this basic cause in our world.  Help us to pray much as we learn and work toward a world that is bettered because of those who STAND.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom on how to approach for LIFE, those in our sphere of influence.
