§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Acts 2:1-13 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  God and Languages.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.  Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.  They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
“Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.  When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.  They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, ‘Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?  How do we hear, everyone in our own native language?  Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!’  They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, ‘What does this mean?’ Others, mocking, said, ‘They are filled with new wine.’”  WEB (Read this scripture and more at

If there were only one language for the entire Earth’s population, what might it be like?  Boring.  Probably boring.  Just a trip to the Statue of Liberty years and years ago was made more interesting by all of the different languages being spoken on the way up and down those many steps.  I remember that we commented on it.  Even then, when immigration was much lower, different sounds from languages were being enjoyed.  It spoke to the differences we have in our nation . . . and yet we are all one:  Americans.  Not that every person there that day was an American.  But America attracted these folks one way or another or they would not have been walking that long upward winding of trail inside that rather large Lady, Liberty.

God created all the sounds of every language.  So He must enjoy hearing them spoken.  And he must enjoy seeing everyone learn theirs!  He perhaps chuckles (We know He laughs [Psalm 37:13]) at a toddler’s attempt to say vanilla wafer, (vanilla flavor) or pocket (pock).  He must enjoy the roll of the tongue in Spanish or the gusto in German’s consonant-rich speaking.  God said everything He made was good (Genesis 1:31):  that surely must include varied languages.

Do you wish you could speak more than the languages you know?  Do you ever wish you could speak of Jesus in someone’s native tongue, but you cannot?  Most of us do not experience this situation; but even then, God in His wisdom can give us other ways to express our love of the Lord.  If we find ourselves in such a situation, pray!  He can send someone!

Lord, help us to explain Your love for all persons, living or about to enter the world, in ways others can understand.  When we do not know a person’s literal language, let us know how to communicate with them anyway, through the Holy Spirit, Your Spirit within us.  Thank you that You will guide us in situations such as this!

Topics:  Pray for understanding on how to communicate with every person we know, about the Lord, in their language … or through ways our Lord gives us, beyond ourselves.
