Col. 2:6,7 (Pt. 2)

“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.â€
Luke 8:11 – Jesus, in the parable of the sower sewing seed tells us, “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.â€
The tall and slender lodgepole pine grows its crop of seeds (in pinecones) far up at their tops, far from the roots that hold these trees to the earth. Perhaps the seeds enjoy a long fight down to the forest floor! But the cones on most varieties of these pines must be heated to a certain temperature to melt resin and release their seeds. Until then, no reproduction occurs.
In LIFE work, could it be that heat opens us up for seeding? There is plenty of “heat†caused by what we do; some people just can’t understand our viewpoint or activities. Sometimes we feel we are in an oven, super-heated and fierce with flame. But, we also know that God can save those in the fire, as he did Daniel and others in a furnace (overheated!). And it may just be that some of our best “seeding†(scattering seeds of faith and service for LIFE) comes when stoked upon us are the heat of public opinion or the reactions of those we know. Pray today that pro-lifers will be strong in God when the heat is on. Pray that we will dig deep our roots in scripture and prayer in order that our seeds may form to be scattered, landing wherever God intends.
