§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Deuteronomy 30:19, 20 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Choose Life.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed; to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.. . . “  (WEB)  (Read these scriptures and more at

Consider these words:  “. . . I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed; . . .”  There is a connection here, between some phrases in this sentence.  A consequence.  If life is chosen, then a person will live, and so will their “seed,” which means the offspring – children.  It has to do with cause and effect.  Choose life (cause), and you and your children will live (effect).

There is no consequence mentioned as to the outcome of choosing death.  But if the choice is death, then, of course, there will be no more life.  Seems simple, although there is more to it; the whole chapter of Deuteronomy 30 is about the children of Israel choosing the one True God.  It is about turning away from other gods and wholeheartedly serving Yahweh (or, as revealed to Moses, YHWH).  The Israelites were told that if they forsake Yahweh, they will die.  By choosing God, they choose life.

In this Old-Testament passage, God and life are solidly connected.  Choosing Him is choosing life.  It had to do with the way the Israelites would order their lives . . . would center their lives.  To bring about life for generations on, they needed to choose God.

Can we not see the connection to pro-LIFE issues today?  When a young mother-to-be . . . who did not want to be a mother-to-be . . .  chooses to keep her baby and bring it to birth, she is choosing God.  He created the life within her.  And when she chooses LIFE, she is in the center of His will, and she will be blessed.  And so will her child and those who will be born in the future because her child lived:  because she chose life.

Lord, we praise You for giving us the ability to make choices for good and bad.  And thank You for all the blessings we receive when we choose You and life.

Topics:  Thank God for the gift of LIFE and our ability to decide for it as we live our lives on Earth.
