§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Deuteronomy 30:19, 20   Thought/Prayer:  A Banner for Life.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed; to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.. . . “  (WEB)  (Read these scriptures and more at

Moses addressed the children of Israel many times when they were about the enter the Promised Land (Canaan) after their years of wandering in the desert.  In his closing words, Moses gives them a choice and a significant charge.  He tells them that before them are life and death; a blessing and a curse.  They are to choose.

He tells them to choose LIFE.

These words were written and this choice presented over three thousand years ago.  But still they endure today.  So, could they not become a banner covering those thousands of years; a banner declaring LIFE?  A banner that can be carried strong over centuries and centuries?  A standard?  A rallying point?

Surely these words still carry their great and positive meaning, even until today . . . and into all tomorrows.  LIFE.  It’s what’s meaningful.  It’s what God wants for us.  He has planned it for us.  And we are to choose it.

Why do we have to choose?  If He planned it for us, why do we need to make a choice?

He did not make us puppets.  He wants life for us and planned it; but He also allowed us our free wills, and He wants our hearts – hearts willingly given – not taken heavenly hostage.  He wants us to choose LIFE and Him.

This scripture is perfect for those of us who work in pro-LIFE service.  It’s plain and simple:  Choose LIFE.  Oh, yes, it could be said that this is a bit of a stretch, that there is a wider and larger meaning than simply regarding abortion.  And there is.  Of course there is.  There are many ways of choosing life.  But for those who stand against abortion, it may become very specific in meaning.

Choose life.  Choose LIFE.  Lord, when there is an unexpected and unwanted pregnancy, help those of us who counsel to put forward the positive of choice that is laid down in the scripture:  Choose LIFE.  May we help others to do so.

Topics:  Pray for skills to help others choose LIFE when they are struggling against life and death in the womb.
