Deuteronomy 7:9 (Pt. 3) Thought/Prayer:Oh How We All Need His Mercy.Topics: 2 @ end.

“And thou shalt know that the Lord thy God, he is a strong and faithful God, keeping his covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments, unto a thousand generations: . . . ”  DRA (Read this scripture and more at

It is grand to think of God’s keeping His covenant and being strong and faithful.  It truly is.

But, for us sinners here on Earth, maybe here the last mention of His characteristics is just as “grand.”  He keeps His mercy.  His mercy.  Oh how we all need His mercy.

Because Jesus Christ came to save us from sin (and in the process, our sinful selves), perhaps mercy is the most appreciated entity in this scripture passage.  Mercy.  Just the saying of this word, or thinking it, can bring a feeling of peace and contentment, of sure acceptance.  Mercy, merciful.  How beautiful.

Because of our sin situation, God applies mercy to members of mankind who receive His Son as the merciful gift of salvation.  How thankful we should be. “How thankful”, we should tell Him.

Babies are often conceived in scenarios of sin, from consensual sex outside of marriage to incest and rape.  Forgiveness is needed.  When God is asked for it, His mercy is one of his character attributes entering in regarding forgiveness.  If he were not merciful, He would not be able to forgive us or even look upon us sinners.

Lord, we thank you so much for your mercy and what it means to us.  Help us to revel in its goodness and love.  Help us to pass on to others information about how merciful you are, and help us to convey this to persons caught in scenarios of sin, especially those interactions that bring a pregnancy.

Topics:  Pray for appreciation of God’s mercy toward us and help us to lead others to understand its beauty.
