§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Ecclesiastes 11:5   Thought/Prayer:  The Way of the Wind.  Topics:  2 at end.

“As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.”  WEB (Read these scriptures and more at

We humans have limited understanding.  No person on planet Earth has all knowledge, even those considered to be the most brilliant of minds.  Not the greatest mental genius ever born knows everything.  It would be silly to even think this.

So in this scripture we have just a little of God’s superiority, given in two examples.  Let’s look at the first one, having to do with the wind.  Yes, we do not “know what is the way of the wind.”  Can you control it?  Can I?  Can you go out on a windy day and say, “Wind, I don’t like the direction from which you are puffing.  Please turn and blow about 15 degrees more to the west”?  Obviously not.

The wind will blow wherever it pleases, which is, in fact, wherever the natural forces put in place by God take it.  When we get up in the morning, we may find a calm day.  The day may stay calm (we categorize a day as calm with reference to wind), or mid-morning or so, we may notice a breeze; the breeze may pick up speed and lead into a windy day.

Those who live on the plains may experience this often.  There are a lot of miles of openness for the wind to enjoy, we might say.  But the fact is, we cannot know precisely when and where the wind will . . . or won’t. . . blow.  This seems rather elementary, actually.

So what has this to do with pro-LIFE interests?  Just the fact that God, in this scripture, pairs the blowing of the wind with the creation of a child in the womb.  We do not really know how either happens.  It is truly a great mystery of LIFE.  How wonderful.  Lord, help us to relish this unknown part of your character, and help us to share the wonder of it with mothers considering abortion for various reasons.  Help us share the wonder.

Topics:  Pray for wonder in the Lord’s creation to grow and to be able to share it with others, to conviction for LIFE.
