§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Eph. 4:11-15 Thought/Prayer: Grow up in Christ. Topics: 2 @ end.

“And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors,  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Until we all meet into the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ;  That henceforth we be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the wickedness of men, by cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ:  . . . “  DRA (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

In this scripture there is a connection made between doing the truth and growing in Christ:  “. . . we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ.”  This is a definite connection here.  It’s very clear.  If we do the truth in charity, in love, we may grow up in Christ.  This is very thought-provoking (and maybe prayer-provoking for us Christians).

How can it be, this connection?  It is a contrast, really.  The first portion of the scripture speaks of Christians receiving the gifts of grace (v. 7) and other working gifts to use to minister and to become like Christ.  And all of this points to our steadiness and firmness in the Lord.  Then when this equipping in our lives comes up against worldly antagonists, we will further grow through “doing the truth in charity.”  If we are faithful to apply the available strengthening equipment, we will be able to go against obstacles, speak the truth in love, and gain spiritual maturity in Christ.  We stick to the truth (and lay it out before others in love), and not only do others reap the benefit of truth’s effects, we do too.  Wow.

How can we apply this in pro-life areas?  There are hundreds of applications it would seem.  From talking in a social situation about the importance of standing for LIFE, to escorting a confused woman to a pregnancy clinic where she can learn of assistance in carrying her child to full term, to bringing baby clothes to moms who chose life:  all of these efforts will bring us closer to Christ, as we grow up in Him.  Even those of us of retirement age or beyond can still grow in the Lord; it never has to stop.

Lord, help us to be aware that the things we do in Love, in Your name, count in another major way:  spiritual growth that brings us closer to the essence of the Lord in our lives.  Help us to do and say things in love that enhance Your desires for LIFE.  Thank you for telling us how all of this can work together, Lord; as we grow in You.

Topics:  Pray for the ability to speak and do the truth in love always and to anticipate the reward of growing closer to our Lord as a result.
