§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Ephesians 2:17-22   Thought/Prayer:  The Chief Cornerstone.  Topics:  2 at end.

“He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near. For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
A Temple in the Lord
So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Another name for Christ Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone.  We know that Christ is the Chief Shepherd of all believers, watching over us with the care of a genuinely good shepherd of sheep in a pasture.  But He also has the name of Chief Cornerstone.  Here, in Ephesians 2, Paul write to his Ephesian brothers and sisters that Christ came to bring peace between Jew and Gentile, breaking down the wall of hostility between them.  Paul tells them that believers are “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone . . . “  So just what is a cornerstone?  Well, it really is the foundation stone of any building.  It is the first stone to be set in a foundation, and all other stones are set off of it, determining the way the entire building will be positioned.  Of course, it is of critical importance that this first stone be set correctly and not be crooked in any way.

If persons could choose whether or not to be a foundation stone, we might all deny the opportunity because of the necessity of perfection.  But we don’t need to do this because we already have a Chief Cornerstone for our lives, Jesus Christ.  He never leans too far in any direction or has a center of gravity that is slightly off.  No, our Chief Cornerstone is centered upright and perfectly.  And the edifice He builds in us, our faith-built structure, is solidly grounded and cemented firmly.  Thank goodness we do not need to be our own cornerstones!

If we think of architecture worldwide, we could never count the cornerstones set into place, from Chinese pagodas to Greek and Roman temples, and all present buildings.  But there is only one chief cornerstone.  And we are grateful for Him.  Upon Him believers build their lives of faith, never fearing that they will veer in some direction, especially as long as we faithfully relate the positioning of our lives to the reckoning of the cornerstone.

This building of our lives impacts others, as we serve, just as buildings in our world provide ways to live, worship, work and on and on.  Certain beautiful buildings speak to our aesthetic senses.  What Christ builds in us does also.  And when we serve, the beauty of His centered cornerstone may be important to others as they see our lives built up in service.  When this service is in the pro-life area, Lord, we ask that those we assist will see You as our Cornerstone and will make You theirs also.

Topics:  Pray to build only on the Cornerstone of Christ Jesus and to help others see the need for His upright foundation in their lives.
