Ephesians 6:18 (Pt.3) Thought/Prayer: “All Saints” Topics:2 at end.

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; . . . ”  KJV (Read this scripture and more at

Who are “all the saints”?  There are many saints in the Roman Catholic tradition, by way of honor through many guidelines.  The names of these saints can often be seen in the names of Catholic churches and schools.

But perhaps, here, the apostle Paul is writing to any true believer in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, any person who has made Him his or her Savior.  In the New Testament, often the believers in the time of Christ and Paul are referred to in this way.  And here we are told to watch for them, and not just brief glances.  We are to watch (watch out for them we could say) with perseverance and supplication, that being prayer.

This can be either a big task or a small task.  In some ways, to think of how to pray for many different saints can seem overwhelming.  On the other hand, when we consider that most people in ministry have similar needs in general (not to ignore specific and even urgent needs), there are ways to pray that will be effective without knowing minute details of people’s needs.  Broad prayer, specific prayer, any type of prayer is needed and has different purposes.  Our task may be to learn how best we each can watch for the saints with perseverance and supplication.

Lord, help us to know.  Help us to follow your leading as we grow in Your grace to be more prayerful as you would have us for our Christian brothers and sisters.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom in prayer for others, especially other Christians and especially those who work for LIFE as a ministry.
