§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Genesis 1:14, 15   Thought/Prayer:  Everything Being Equal.  Topics:  2 at end.

Genesis 1:14, 15   “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.”  KJV  (Read this scripture and more at

Equal.  It’s exactly today:  It’s the autumnal equinox, the day of the year when God gives us exactly the same amount of daylight and night, all over the world.  This fall equinox heads us toward winter; the spring equinox announces summer down the calendar a few flips.  Most people probably favor one over the other.  Either you look forward to spring the most, or it’s fall that your heart relishes.

This is planned by our God, as the planet He made for us has certain set pathways in space, traveling, of course, around our star, the sun.  Why didn’t He make it so we would always have equal night and day?  If Earth’s axis were exactly straight up and down, we would never have different lengths of days.  I think I’m glad that our God likes a bit more variety.

We’re all on-tilt.  Since the earth isn’t perpendicular as it rotates, it maintains certain degrees of tilt.  It leans.  We know that the equinoxes occur when the top half of the tilted earth either moves toward or away from the sun.  We can also say that the bottom half of the tilted earth moves like this.  But we never have top and bottom the same – except for two days a year when the sun travels across the equator to start either the upper sphere, or the lower, closer or away from our sun, Ol’ Sol.  (Think there might be some connection here – Sol, solstice, solar?)

What a plan!  So precise and predictable.  We appreciate that God, whom we cannot see, gave us order and predictability in His natural world on Earth.  Nature is well-planned and well-regulated.  Bumble bees don’t bear elephants.  Our human bodies with their incredible micro-amazing characteristics are so complex, with millions of minute workings we never see.

Lord, God, thank you for making things so we can see Your hand of creation in them.  Nowhere is our complexity made manifest than in the birth of a child.  Your plan for birth is so beyond us that we can enjoy thinking about it with awe that needs no explanation.  There were two, a husband and a wife; now there are three, or even more with multiple births.  There was no little person in that crib in the nursery; now we hear chuffling sounds and cries from in there.

Lord, help us to never take Your creation for granted.  Especially let us never take birth for granted.  We must not.  We must always be a bit in awe of it all – and we can easily pass this attitude on to others by being in awe as we speak of your creative plans for perpetuating us.  As our Earth rotates and revolves, as solstices and equinoxes come and go, help us to let others know Who we know created all of the precise workings, even down to the newly conceived person at home in the womb.
