Genesis 1:7 Thought/Prayer:  Beautiful Waters, A Glass, A Creation, A Purity. Topics: 2 at end.

“And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

We consider the value of a glass of water for life-sustaining hydration.  Then we attempt to fathom the same liquid substance in accordance with the account of the creation of the universe, the creation of everything.  We cannot, of course, really picture how it was that the “waters which were under the firmament” [sky, or heavens] were separated from those above the firmament.  But our glass of refreshment water is the very same substance, notwithstanding the pristine purity at creation which can surely never be duplicated.

Neither our thermos of water or the waters at creation can compare, of course, with the Water of Life offered by Jesus Christ . . .  The purity of His gladly-given water cannot even be assessed by us human beings who are so non-pure.  Yes, we are impure to the core . . . or should we say to the last drop (apology. Had to say that . . .).  BUT quite seriously:  It is through Christ’s Water of Life that we become pure again.  We don’t even have to be installed as a purifying addition to our tap water.  We don’t have to go through a water-clarifying plant to be declared pure.

We just believe.

No, it is true that we contaminate our “selves” over and over even after we know the source of the True Water of Life.  But we agree with God and confess, turning from our sin, and he cleanses us (I John 1:7).  So, from the physical earthly water that sustains life, (plant, animal and human); to what was surely a bombastic separation of earth and water at creation; to the universal largeness of water offered by the Lord Jesus Christ:  Water.

Lord, thank You for water, in all its varied forms of meaning.  Please help refresh the souls in families going through LIFE—type crises day after day.  Help them be refreshed with a glass of water; an awe over your creation; and a total refreshment by your Water of Life.
