§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Heb. 10:22   Thought/Prayer:  A Mind-Set.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

“Let my heart be set right, Lord,” was in my prayer today.  And then I thought, hopefully prayerfully, about it.  What had I said?  (Yes I guess praying is saying things to God.)

But maybe we also can ask God to help us with our mind-sets.

We talk about a mind-set; sailors “set” sails; we know we get set in our ways.

It seems there can be a heart-set also, at least in my circumstance.

When we pray, it is so easy to pray into our own attitudes or perceptions of a person or a situation. We love someone so much, or we see someone’s need (at least as we interpret it), and we may find ourselves with eyes squeezed tight before our Lord, picturing what we think should be the outcome of petitions when they are answered.  Squeezed-tight eyes will force God’s hand, right?  Wrong; wrong!  But oh how easy it is to get into that tightened attitude before God.  We just want something to happen sooo much.

So how do we avoid getting into this tight mind-set?  Seemingly it is easy for most of us to experience.  Do any of us who sincerely seek the will of the Lord deny that we’ve been in this balled-up-tight posture?  (Eye-balled tight maybe.)  We love Him, and we want Him to love people and their circumstances just as much as we do.

Well, he does!  Even more than we!  Even more than we can ever imagine.  And he isn’t uptight about any of them or their situations.  Maybe, such as this scripture tells us, we need to draw near in full assurance of faith.  Surely this must mean a faith that is confident in the answers that will come.  The answers come from God, don’t they?  The same God who is not ever up-tight.  So we need not try to force His hand; His hand is playing out all the best for our people and situations about which we are so concerned.

So our hearts . . . our minds . . . can be set right before the Lord.  Let us pray even about that.

Lord, help us to try to focus on You and Your plans for our people we love.  Sometimes, Lord, it’s really hard to do.  We can’t see you.  We can’t see your face of love.  Just help us to believe and to draw near with assurance of You and Your answers.

Topics:  Pray to be aware of God and His desires for the best for those we pray for.  Help us to have a mindset of trust when we pray.
Pray by specific state for all LIFE issues.
