§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 11:1 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Descriptors of Faith.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  (KJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

Besides the scripture pillar, Hebrews 11:1, there are so many other scriptures that speak to faith and the carrying out of its purposes.  In the happening of the woman touching the hem of Jesus’ robe, thus being healed (Matthew 9:22), Jesus told her it was her faith that made her well.  Matthew 17:20 tells us that if we have faith like a mustard seed, mountains will move for us.  In Matthew 23:23, Jesus tells the Pharisees and scribes that they should not neglect faith, among other qualities.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  Of course, any true Christian has come to God through faith.  So we know that when we are participating in a Christian ministry (pro-life work for one), we are working with others who do believe that there is evidence of things hoped for; they believe in the assurance of things not seen.  This common bonding through faith:  though it’s unseen, it’s there as a bonding agent enabling us to work together to carry out our belief not only in faith but in the God who establishes it in our universe and in our lives.

So this evidence of the unseen, the assurance of it, the conviction, the substance, the confidence in it – All of these descriptions of faith in Heb. 11:1 are within the myriad other Bible verses about faith.  It makes them all have more depth of meaning it would seem – well, yes,  more substantive—to use reuse that descriptor.

Lord, we want to know more depth to our faith.  Help us to remember these few similar but yet different words as an approach to the meaning of faith.  Help us to understand it better because translators over the centuries have had different views of what it really means.  All the while we know, though, Lord, that this little five-letter word sets open to us all the power in the universe because You are the power, and the faith is from You and in You.  Praise your Name.

Topics:  Pray to understand faith more and to be willing to ponder what it means in our lives and in our service, including those to families in crisis pregnancies.
