§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 12:1   Thought/Prayer:  A Race for Us Humans.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Let us also therefore, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight, and sin which so easily entangles us, run with endurance the race that lies before us, looking stedfastly on Jesus the leader and completer of faith: who, in view of the joy lying before him, endured the cross, having despised the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  DBY (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

We read our Bibles, in part, to see what God has in mind for the human race here on Earth.  Here, in this scripture, we read mention of the race that we run during our lives.  A race for the human race, we might say.  And, no, this is not referring to some blitzing television show where contestants race to win prizes in one way or another.  There was a show decades ago where contestants on stage raced against the clock to win prizes. There have been similar versions of that program more recently, with tweaks that bring it into the century in which we now live (and also race).

No, this scripture mentions the human-race race in the context that this is our lives’ trajectories, making our “run” throughout life as a comparison to a race.  Some days we really feel that this scripture is laboriously literal, as we seem to streak through our days from one task or event to another, to another . . . We all know what that is like!  We end up breathless at the end of day.

But when we consider that God compares our lives to a race, it includes an added (very important!) dimension:  the spiritual.  Yes, we are in a spiritual race of sorts, one in which we participate when we believe in the spirituality of life and embrace it through God’s son, Jesus Christ.  Our humanness makes this race a challenge because we are not always on God’s path or racetrack every step of the way:  we often stray, go on tangent-tracks that lead only away from the finish line; wobble about because we have not kept enough spiritual food in our systems to last the course.

But this does not happen all the time.  Thankfully!  When we are wise in our racing sneakers, our selves will be tuned up through the Word of God, ingesting it in order to have enough wisdom and stamina to finish any race.  This is when we have peace that we are on the right racetrack and will eventually see the finish line, however long it takes to get to it.

Lord, we want to race perfectly for You.  But we need You to feed us nourishment so that we can be confident in every step we take in this human-race race.  We need you to remind us that we need that nourishment, especially from Your Word.  Make us hungry for the racing menu for each of our lives, menus that are unique to each of us.  Thank you for providing just the right kind of nourishment that we need, even to favorite “foods,” those that we eat often from Your Word, because we really like them:  favorite scriptures that inspire us on.  Help us run the race in service to You and especially to those who need us to run alongside their race on occasion, such as those struggling with huge LIFE issues, so that we can spur them on also.

Topics:  Pray for a hunger to eat the best foods that God offers us so that we can run in the best way the race before us through life.
Our nation’s schools – administrators, that they will be convicted about God’s viewpoint on LIFE issues.
