§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 12:1(Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Races Within Races.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Let us also therefore, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight, and sin which so easily entangles us, run with endurance the race that lies before us, looking stedfastly on Jesus the leader and completer of faith: who, in view of the joy lying before him, endured the cross, having despised the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  DBY (Read this scripture and more at

The Bible describes our lives on Earth as a race.  We can relate to this comparison of our lives to an athletic event.  And, as we do this race, we see the benefits of the exercise that racing gives a person.  We are building strength and endurance as we run, and this is good for anyone’s body.

Interestingly, there may be more than one type of race:  There are races within races, so to speak.  This may play out in the ministries to which we are called.  For awhile we may run the race of service, where service to others is a major calling or goal. Then we may concentrate on training for the race of evangelism.  We might undergo training to learn to counsel others at an evangelistic service.  Then we may return to our service-calling when we deliver meals to shut-ins.

All of these sub-races may fall within the boundaries of the track on which we run:  our life’s path.  And all of these types of races will fit into our life’s calling and the gifts given to us by our Lord.  The beauty of it is that we never get off of the main track.  Even though we go through different modes of service, they are all on the track of life.  We must be close to God to understand just which races are ours to run.

But it is no terrible big fault if we get on a side-track once in awhile.  Maybe we are inattentive to the directions given us by our Lord; or we may take off on a tangent-track of our own, ignoring even big nudges to go another direction.  We may stumble and fall. But guess who is there to pick us up!  God, directly or indirectly.  He may send a fellow runner to grab us and pull us up.  Or He may grab us indirectly through the scriptures (or maybe this is the most direct, really).

If we are sincerely seeking His best path for our life, we can rest assured that we will always be on the major track, no matter how many sub-races there are; and we can always be back “on track” after straying off of the edge for awhile.

Lord, as we serve you, we want to ask You for directions for our race.  We want You to pick the races, big and small, in which we are to participate.  When we are serving someone trying to decide for or against abortion or euthanasia, we pray that at the moments of sharing that come from this, we will be right centered on Your track and in the right lane.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom as to the trajectory of the pathway we live on for God, and through Him.
