§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 13:8   Thought/Prayer:  Fire it Up . . .or Out.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”  KJV  (Read this scripture and more at

Things sometimes have interesting twists.  There was a fire truck in front of us in traffic.  Fire trucks, obviously, put out fires.

There was another vehicle next to the fire truck.  This vehicle advertised its driver’s business, Fast Fire (I’m not using the actual name, but it’s very similar).  Fast Fire sells fireplaces for homes.  Their fireplaces are to create fires, fast-like.

How could two vehicles represent more opposite purposes!  Here is a fire truck, bent on putting out fires.  Here is a business wanting to stoke up a million fires!

Yes, life can be confusing.  Sometimes we need to get the big picture in order to understand the contrasts.  If we didn’t know that fire trucks extinguish fires, there would have been nothing to notice regarding these two vehicles at the stop light.  And if we didn’t know that Fast Fire might possibly have the Fast-Fire name because of fire places, we wouldn’t notice the contrast at all.

How do we understand the big picture of work in pro-life settings?  How do we know when something is uniquely the way it is, or the way it is not, at any given moment?

There is a book that gives the most total, expansive big picture possible.  It’s called God’s Word, the Bible.  Read it, and then all sorts of heretofore unseen unusual connections or happenings will catch our eyes (or our hearts).  Once we have the big picture of the universe, or our world, other things can fit together nicely.  Obviously, the fire place makers want to create fires in the safety of their fireplaces.  But, if something goes awry, that fire truck is there in a jiff.

And, our Lord solidifies it all:  He never changes.

Lord, help us to understand the things that seem to be in contrast in our Christian lives.  You know the big picture, Lord.  Thank you that when it comes to our Christian pro-life service, we can trust you to make sense of things (or people) that seem to be at opposite ends of things – but are really just where they should be.

Topics:  Pray for clarity to see God’s purpose for our lives brought into focus so that our part in things will make sense and be meaningful.
