§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 6:7 Thought/Prayer:  A Study in Cultivated Contrast.  Topics:  2 at end.

“For the soil which has drunk the rain that repeatedly falls upon it and produces vegetation useful to those for whose benefit it is cultivated partakes of a blessing from God.”

We saw the results of irrigation as we viewed from our car’s windows.  On the western plains of Kansas, the contrast was striking:  brown barren land with a few weedy-looking plants; and an arc of bright green cutting through the brown, beautiful and clear.  This was the arc of well-watered, well-nourished crop of corn.  It was the evidence of careful cultivation and care.  A farmer somewhere near had spent much time in planning for the seeding, watering, and feeding of his crop.  And it showed.  The arc was exactly where a gigantic sprinkler system had watered in a circle.  This could have been the lines in a painting, so precise was the contrast of brightness vs drab.

What if the farmer had had other things to do on the days scheduled for planting and watering?  What if he decided that another pursuit took precedence?  And then the timing was wrong and went away, for his crop?  There would never have been this striking picture of green and brown.  The farmer would have been less successful with his crop.

Whatever our areas of service, whether it be in pro-life work, local church work, or caring for the ill, we must cultivate our spiritual life.  Others need to be able to see that our spiritual crop is different from the surrounding scene; brighter, richer.  We must be steadfast to water ourselves at the right time with the water of the Word, with the nourishment of the Word, and with the Word Himself, Jesus the Christ, in fellowship.  The right time is NOW.  And every day.  We must not allow other concerns to interfere with the timing of our own growth, or the harvest of His work in us.
Pray today that every person in pro-life work will spend time in the Word every day.

Topics:  Pray that across our land, many Christians will have special growth in the Lord today.
Pray for Pro-Life Unity, that through Peter Shinn, many will catch the vision of working together in pro-life areas.
