§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I Chronicles 16:34 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Mercy Advises Goodness.  Topics:  2 at end.

“O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”  KJV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

It seems wondrous to ponder that God is good.  And to combine His goodness with mercy is even more comforting.  We can obtain comfort in the combination of these two eternal attributes of the God of creation, the God of all creation.

Why should these attributes of God be of comfort to us mere humans?  Well, in the first place, although far lesser in the attributes of our God, He does not see us as “lesser.”  If he did indeed view us as unworthy or useless, we would not have had Christ come to save us and to make our lives meaningful beyond human thought.  No, we are in our make-up infinitely less than God.  But only, not mere.  We are important to Him.

And so, we who are important to God may ask how we can get comfort with this combination of qualities of God’s nature.  Here is one way of looking at it:  The LORD is good.  And His goodness is advised with mercy.  If we take something good and then mix in mercy with it – then the goodness has the added advisement of a qualitative addition to it.  Of course, there are many other aspects of God that could be combined with goodness.  But for this writing, just think of how “good” with “mercy” can equally combine beautifully in God’s perfect way.

We are comforted that because goodness is positive and mercy is gentle, we can rest easy.  His goodness does not rule out a gentle attitude toward us.  It can be gentle toward those to whom, in some way, goodness might seem judgmental in the face of sin.  But remember mercy.

Lord, we want to thank you for Your goodness and your mercy.  Please let both of these perfect traits of Yourself be recognized by those of us who benefit from them as we serve others with many LIFE challenges.  We love you, Lord, for these aspects of Your character.

Topics:  Pray for appreciation of God’s mercy and goodness as we see this pair of attributes play out in our lives under God’s hand.
