§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I Corinthians 10:1-4 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  The Solid Rock.  Topics:  2 at end.

Warnings from Israel’s Past
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

In considering Jesus, The Rock upon which our faith is founded, how can we not include a great Christian hymn in public domain, lyrics penned by Edward Mote in 1834, with the melody composed by William B. Bradbury in 1863?

We must.

Here are the wondrous words.  If it is unfamiliar, just know that the refrain is high and soaring.  On the solid ROCK I STAND.  It is based on Jesus’ account of two men who built houses.  The one on the sand fell in the storm.  The one on the rock stood.  Jesus has stood forever and always will.

The Solid Rock

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

The lyrics go on to say that none other is to be trusted, only lean on Jesus’ name.  His grace unchanging, He is the anchor in any storm.  It holds.

The lyrics speak of God’s covenant with those who believe, a covenant made through His shed blood.  The song ends with Christ’s coming again and that it is before His throne in righteousness that we stand faultless . . . but only in Him.  It is the only way to stand faultless in Heaven:  Trust in Jesus.  Jesus the Rock.

Lord, let us be faithful to support others with the meanings behind this great hymn.  Help us to help those in struggles of LIFE issues and others.  May we strive to live up to the doctrines of faith in this song,

Topics:  Praise God for such a song.  Pray to truly live the faith in Jesus the Rock, stated so fully in the lyrics.
