I Corinthians 12:28 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  These Are Miracles.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

IIn this passage and in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, miracles are listed as one of the spiritual gifts.  As we have considered, yes . . . the creation of a newborn baby is indeed a miracle.  But in many contexts, miracles are considered to be happenings that occur outside of the realms of knowledge and science and the ordinary way in which things happen . . . and in its greater intent, an event thought to be inspired by God.

So how does this fit in with pro-life logic?  Well, consider a situation in which family members are headed to the abortion clinic to carry out the killing of a baby in the womb.  The mother and father are in angst because they cannot agree on this action.  There are severe circumstances of money and of family pressures.    The mother wants to do away with the child within her; the father does not.

On the way into the clinic, the mother sees a graphic display of an aborted baby.  She turns to the father; says “Let’s get out of here”; and they leave.  Is this not a miracle?

Consider a situation in which a young mother at an abortion clinic has taken the abortion drug Mifepristone, RU-486, to kill her baby.  She knows there are pro-life folks outside praying for her; she swept past them on the way in.  She remembers them now.  She suddenly wants help!  She runs out of the room and out the building’s door, yelling! . . .Telling the pray-ers she wants to stop the effects of the drug!  She wants to save her baby!

Someone there knows there’s the drug that can reverse the effects of Ru-486: progesterone, the female hormone that helps bring pregnancies to term.  The prayer folks get help for her to get to a hospital.  The baby is saved.

This is a miracle.  There was no thought of saving that baby on the way in.  God brought this mother out and into the lives of those outside praying.

Then there are those who have survived the abortions their mothers tried to inflict upon them.  One such baby girl who survived the horror of being burned from the inside out in her mother’s womb, has spent her life giving people hope.  Gianna Jessen.  Gianna, now 40, is one such person.  She has given her life to telling others her story and advocating against abortion.  She, and others like her, is a miracle!

Lord, thank You for miracles that may not be considered when we think of a miracle.  But the lives You have saved from death in the womb are indeed miracles, as well as every life you create in any womb.  Thank you.

Topics:  Praise God for the lives saved because either abortion didn’t work or because someone prayed and that made all the difference.
