§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I Corinthians 2: 6-7 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  We Do Speak Words of Wisdom.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Yet when we are among mature believers we do speak words of wisdom; a wisdom not belonging, however, to the present age nor to the leaders of the present age who are soon to pass away. But in dealing with truths hitherto kept secret we speak of God’s wisdom—that hidden wisdom which, before the world began, God pre-destined, so that it should result in glory to us; . . .” (WEY)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

As much as this scripture speaks to us about God’s wisdom and receiving it from fellow Christians who are mature in the Lord, there is an interesting turn of words that may cast an interesting glance of light here.  The first half of the first sentence has to do with how we speak when we are with these persons.  To quote this and add some emphasis, we have “Yet when we are among mature believers we do speak words of wisdom; . . .”  The apostle Paul wrote these words to fellow believers in Corinth.  And the way this sentence is phrased, we might take it to mean that, when Christians are around fellow Christians who are mature in Christ, that is when words of God’s wisdom may be spoken and understood.

So, is there something about being near mature believers that would cause words of wisdom to be spoken to each other?  Hmm.  Why would this be?

But this surely must not mean that we speak one way to this group with and that way to another.  Well, when considering this, we may need to think of different circumstances in which Christians gather and share their words in speech.  Generally speaking, it would be very true that we don’t speak in “levels,” as such.  We don’t decide before a get-together, that tonight, because of those around us, we will speak maturely in wisdom and tomorrow we will speak immaturely.  No, that’s not it at all.

But when we consider newer believers, is there possibly a best way to speak with them?  Are there considerations among more newly-developed brothers and sisters, spiritually speaking, that we need to remember when sharing of the faith?

Well, in I Corinthians 8, Paul admonishes us to be careful about the possibility of causing a “weaker” brother to stumble.  Not that this means that less-experienced equates with “weaker,” but we simply are to be careful around less-experienced fellow Christians because they may not have as deep a frame of reference in the Christian walk.  They may be wrestling with spiritual aspects of life that we took on years before.  So we are careful.

But when those of us who have been walking the walk for a long time are gathered with others of the same ilk, we may find that we can speak of the deep things out of which we have been crafted by God; and in speaking, many who are present may gain greater insight to add into their repertoire of experience.

Lord, thank You that this scripture is here, and that we may learn from it that there are times when deep and meaningful conversations may come, out of deep and meaningful and ongoing experience in You.

Topics:  Pray for the knowledge of how to speak with fellow Christians of all experience and spiritual insight.
