§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I John 2 :1-2   Thought/Prayer:  Our Advocate.  Topics:  2 at end.

Jesus is Our Advocate
My little children, these things write I to you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

In this scripture, Jesus Christ’s name is that of advocate.  He advocates before the God the Father to clear us of accusations and the need for punishment for our sins.  He pleads our cause, when we cannot.

There is a reason He can do this:  He paid all of the penalty for any of our sin, already, on His cross.  He took on all of our sin (the sins of the world, as we see above).  There is no way we can stand before God as sinners and expect Him to be able to look at us, because He is holy and we are everything not holy . . . except when Jesus Christ is between us and God.  Then God looks upon Him for our righteousness.  As the propitiation for our sins, he is making an appeasement with God so that you and I can regain favor with Him.

Yes, He advocates for us.  And because He advocates for us, is there the possibility that we can also be advocates in some way?

Of course we cannot appease God for any other person; that is up to Christ the Redeemer.  But, consider that because we are in Christ and have His advocacy, there are then other ways that we can be advocates . . . for others.  It would come in the realm of loving service.  And it could definitely come in the pro-life work that we do.

Those mothers who are in anguish because of an unwanted pregnancy; those babies in the womb so helpless regarding themselves; those dads who, suddenly find themselves heading toward fatherhood-unplanned; those grandmas and grandpas worrying about losing a surprise grandchild to an abortionist’s tools:  We can advocate for all.  All these who are anguished over pregnancies may be held up in prayer by us.  This is advocacy.

Lord, help us to be faithful advocates for LIFE in all of its many forms . . . the elderly; the fragile; the mentally disturbed; the mentally handicapped; the baby out of rape; the baby conceived illicitly.  Give us the words to pray for them.  But let us love them all the while also.  You the Advocate; help us also to be such, in our earthly level of concern.
Topics:  Pray with the assurance that we can advocate for others in the dire straits of life and death; life or death.
