I John 4:16 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Confiding.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And as for us, we know the love which God has for us, and we confide in it. God is love, and he who continues to love continues in union with God, and God continues in union with him.”  WEY (Read this scripture and more at

An interesting four words here in the last half of this compound sentence:  Regarding God’s love .  . . “And we confide in it.”  Confiding in love.  How do we do that, really?  When we confide in someone, doesn’t that mean to tell our innermost thoughts and feelings?  If we confide, does that mean sharing?  Yes, it means that.

But can it not also mean to trust?  If we do confide in some person, do we not need to be assured of their trust, that they are trustworthy?  Yes, that also.

So when it comes to the love of God, how do we confide in it?  How do we tell an “entity” such as love, our confidences?  We know we can abide in God’s love . . .  (live in it) . . . but can it mean that we can tell God (Who is love) our innermost feelings?  Can it mean that God is so trustworthy, that His love is the same . . . and we feel secure in it?  Yes.  It may just seem a bit strange to think of it as here in these sentences in this scripture . . . but it could be doable.

It may come down to the fact that God is love.  Nothing more than that.  He is love.  And we can confide in that love.  If God is in person . . . love . . . then we can confide in love as in God’s totality.  We can express everything we want to, right into LOVE.  Because love is God.

Lord, help us to understand and to take in this concept into our lives.  Because we know that we can confide in You, as Love, we then have great confidence in all things.  And we know we can pass along to others this confidence that comes from You.  Help us to do this especially for those struggling with decisions of life and death.

Topics:  Pray for understanding of the confidence we have in God and pray to pass it on to others.
