I Peter 2:6   Thought/Prayer:  Precious.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.”  (DBT)  (Read this scripture and more at

A name for Christ is Cornerstone.  And He is precious.  A precious cornerstone.  The cornerstone being quite important in the structure of a building, would anyone ever think of it being precious?

Well, maybe not in daily life.  Although when thinking about this, we might see that all cornerstones are “precious” because of their importance.  Set a cornerstone off the slightest bit?  The building may soon go on tilt as it goes up.  If builders are careless, we might see a lot of tipped buildings around – left or right (depending upon the politics of the architect? – (joke, joke).

But the Savior Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of faith’s buildings is called Precious.  So let us worship Him as such.  Precious are the things we hold dear and honor and revere as very special.  That old-fashioned music box, or that plate that always held birthday cookies at Aunt Agnes’s?  Precious.

Jesus Christ we hold dear and honor and consider very special.  We cannot humanly hold Him dear enough to our hearts and lives.  But He honors our intent when we revere Him as special, as precious, and want to hold Him close . . . and to be held close by Him.

To know this is important for families in situations that require reassurance regarding tough situations of illness, injury, difficult pregnancies, difficult last-days times.  Lord, we pray that You will guide those who pray for these folks, and that you will lead these sufferers to those who will show them the way to the cornerstone called Precious who can help them build a stable life beyond circumstances and built on faith.

Topics:  Pray for those who need to know the Precious cornerstone, Jesus Christ the Lord.
