§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I Thessalonians 1:8-10 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Deliver the Apathetic. Topics: 2 at end.

“For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. For they themselves show of us what manner of entrance we had to you, and how ye turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.” (WBT)  (Read this scripture and more at

A name for Jesus Christ:  The Deliverer.  There may be one deliverance from the Lord that is crucial to Christian service:  Deliverance form apathy.  The Lord Jesus can accomplish this deliverance.  He delivers us from the wrath of God, and this should take away any apathy of living, when we consider the awesome gift of life that He gives us through His death and resurrection.

But, alas, we humans are so “human,” created in God’s image and yet given human free wills as to our commitment to Him.  And apathy is one way in which we can exercise that free will, to our detriment.  We simply, at times, do not want to get up the energy to serve Him to the fullest.  We would rather coast than make the effort to do what we really do know we should.

When we stand for created life, we often work hard.  And sometimes we just don’t want to.  But, pathetic will be the end result of our laziness, of our apathetic attitudes.  Nothing gets done.  Oh yeah, we’ll hope someone else does it.  Guess I’ll go to a movie.  Need to relax.

Well, we all feel this way sometimes, and when we ask the Lord, apathy is forgivable.  But we can’t just bask in the forgiveness, sitting around to enjoy it.  No, the end result of forgiveness from lack of interest is to get up and go.  Confession and forgiveness in this area has service as an end result.

When apathy overcomes us in pro-life work, and then we confess and are forgiven, we may just have a new spark to get to work, Now.  Up and at ‘em.  Go, do, pray, and serve, at God’s bidding.

Lord, thank You that our apathy need not stymie our work for you, once we realize how disinterested we are and seek Your forgiveness.  Deliver us from this sin of nothingness, which is what gets done out of apathy:  Nothing.  And when we serve folks for LIFE issues, let apathy not get us down, with nothing done.

Topics:  Pray for a spirit of energy to serve under God’s direction and to be delivered from a spirit of apathy.
