§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

I Timothy 2:1,2 (Pt. 2) Thought/Prayer:Not Yet in Authority.Topics:2@end.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

How should we pray for those running for a governmental office, be it local, state or national?  And how could this relate to the above scripture about praying for kings and all who are in authoritative positions?

Pray as though they are already in authority.

And why pray in this manner?

Because – those who are elected will soon be in authority.  So as we pray for them as candidates . . . the pool of candidates eventually giving rise to those who are in authority . . . then we are surely praying in sync with this scripture.  Of course we do not know who will be elected.  But if we pray for each candidate as if they are already elected, we will pray for God’s hand to be seen in their lives and in their potential governance.

Does this seem to be just a round-about way of thinking?  Could be; but really it’s not if we consider how we pray for those already in authority and for those who want to be.  Ask God for the qualities we want in a ruler, before they actually become one?  That’s not too far-out is it?  Perhaps if we pray this way for candidates, true and good leaders will come out of it.  God may even make good changes in their lives, perhaps unbeknownst to them.

Whom do we know of those running for office?  Probably many, mostly by name and perhaps facial recognition from brochures and TV ads.  Do we probably know a lot of details about these folks, details proven to be true?  Probably not.

But if we pray for all of them as though they are already in office, we know we will be praying for those who will actually be in office.  (God does know who those will actually be.)

Lord, if we pray for those running for office, we ask You to give us the words for asking, words that are in your will.  Lord, we want to pray for the qualities of candidates to match up with those You would have in leaders.  Just give us the words to pray for those not yet in authority.
