§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

II Chronicles 20:17 – 23   Thought/Prayer:  Advance of Song.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.  And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
“And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
“For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.  KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

For those of us who are singers (or play musical instruments), the Old-Testament scriptures that describe the honor given to musicians are especially sweet.  And here is one of those.  Jehoshaphat and all of Judah and Jerusalem were preparing to go against the armies of Moab and Ammon.  Judah has been invaded.  The people are in great need of some assistance.

God has just told them that He is going to fight their battle for them.  One might expect that the front lines of the march of the army would carry weapons for use against the enemy.  It might be expected that skilled warriors might lead the way.  But, no.

At the front were:  singers.  No advance guard with bayonets.  No advance guard with an eye out to view the enemy’s status.  None of this.  Just, at the head of everything:  singers.  An advance of music, songs.

Would you or I feel secure with this type of military arrangement?  In an ordinary sense, maybe not.  But this is no ordinary thing:  God is in control.
We must listen to what the singers were singing:  “Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.”  They are just praisin’ the Lord, as we say, and then behind them came the army.  The army would benefit from this “advance chorus” we might say, not an advance guard.  This advance chorus had all the power of the great God of the Israelites.  And He fought for them, and the enemies went down.

We can sing for God in the middle of our battles.  We can advance in praises because God fights for us, and we know we have won, and so we know we can praise in all honesty that He is worthy to carry out any plan for our battles.  Even though a person might consider himself or herself not “musical,” we can still sing in our hearts to the Lord.  He hears every note of our heart-songs to Him.  He knows our own each, unique melody.

Lord, help us to praise you when we come up against battlements against You and Your plan for the planet Earth.  Let our praises go up, and then help us to recognize You when answer by reaching down and helping us.  Help us to praise you ahead of time in our pro-life battles because we know You will help us win.  But let us sing praise.

Topics:  Pray for the boldness to praise God ahead of time for the victories He brings into our lives because we trust Him.
