II Timothy 1:12 (Pt. 2)  What Does He Keep?  Topics:  2 at end.

“For which cause I also suffer these things: but I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and I am certain that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him, against that day.” (DRB)  (Read this scripture and more at

In just another brief look at the song written from this scripture, we see that the song lyrics are the scripture.  So, in song and scripture, we may ask:  Just what is it that I have committed unto the One in Whom I believe?  Just what have I committed for safekeeping to the Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord?  My Savior and Lord.  What is He keeping for me?

Each Christian may describe this answer differently.  Some may say, “My heart.  I have committed my heart.”  Others might say,  “It’s my life, my entire life, now and in the future.  It’s committed.”  Someone else might answer, “My whole being.  Nothing is held back.  I totally commit my entire self.”

But one underlying theme through these all might well be summed up as, “My faith for the future, of Heaven and eternity.”  My heart, my entire life, my entire being:  Entrusted to the Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord.  Forever.

He will keep it all safe.  He will keep it until I get there.  “I have believed.  I have entrusted.  He will keep.”

The beauty in the song lyrics includes references to grace; redemption; faith; the Spirit; seeing Christ’s face; meeting Him in the air when He comes again.  These are all things we can count on.  We have given Him our selves and our lives here and now.  We have believe-ed (as the song melody has it) in His ability to keep it all safe, secure, and sure.  Hallelujah!

And, Lord, may those of us whom You put in positions to speak of this, have success.  At a pregnancy-crisis center; in a church; or even through our prayers.  It is when struggling men and women find Jesus and the security of His love and of their eternity, that they can find peace with the situations in which they find themselves.  Help us.

Topics:  Pray for opportunity to tell others about the Lord and His commitment to keep what we entrust to Him, especially those in severe anguish over LIFE issues.
