§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

II Timothy 1:5 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  The Order of Things, or Not.  Topics:  2 at end.

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelled first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.” AKJV (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

We might wonder who believed first:  the grandmother Lois or the mother Eunice.  We can see that we’re not told.  So in our minds’ eyes, maybe we can create two differing scenarios:  Grandmother Lois believes; then because of her example, mother Eunice believes.  Or, conversely, Eunice the daughter comes to faith in Christ first, thus influencing her mother in her belief.

We could say that the expected order would be that a grandmother would believe and then influence a daughter.  But it doesn’t always happen that way. (Isaiah 11:6:  “And a little child will lead them.”)  Maybe little-girl Eunice first fell in love with Jesus when he laid his hand on her head in blessing while in a pressing crowd of people – and then her mother saw Jesus in her.  Maybe not.  But however it happened, we see the possibility for the effect of belief within families.  We know that Timothy was influenced by the two women, so it would seem that his faith came along after they both believed.

It’s just that families are important links in - and to - belief.  And perhaps a bigger question is, what if no one believes?  This can be a link to unbelief.  But when others pray for families who cannot believe, or do not, the links to unbelief can be broken.

When we are concerned with families considering abortion, we can pray that God will intervene, perhaps even with a familial link to faith of some type.  If that link is not there, then those of us who pray have an increased responsibility.

Lord, help us to be a link to faith, either within our families, or otherwise.  And may be not ignore the faith that dwells in children.  And may we model to others what joy it can bring when faith is intergenerational, no matter the order of events.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom to advise those who struggle with faith, and pray for families to be diligent in offering up faith as a distinct lifestyle over years.
