§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

II Timothy 1:5 (Pt. 5)  Thought/Prayer:  “Commonness.”  Topics:  2 at end.

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelled first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.” AKJV (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

One of the special meanings in this passage about a New-Testament family may lie in its quality “commonness.”  Here is a family, probably of mixed faiths, living centuries ago; and we’re still talking about them and appreciating them.  Of course, in faith terms, this makes them “un-common,” but in their daily lives they probably were ordinary ladies, in a societal way.  We are not told that either was a community leader or any royalty, etc.  But here they are, the mother/daughter duo and the boy who reaped what the ladies sewed:  faith through the scriptures.

May they had, or would have later on, some influence in the community.  Perhaps their faith, and God’s in put into their lives, gave them wisdom to become leaders in their circle of friends and family.  But whatever their influence beyond the home, Lois and Eunice were of great impact in the home.

Surely Lois must have influenced Eunice, and Eunice continued the effect by influencing her son Timothy.  Does faith always beget faith—and in repetition?  No, not always.  But it’s encouraging to see that happening right here in scripture.

Thank You, Lord, for including the “common” person in scripture.  By seeing the effect that can occur in families of no particular political or cultural sway, it gives us all hope for our “ordinary” lives . . . which, as we see here, are not ordinary at all when they influence others on down the years.  Help us to remember this when we help others who are just regular citizens to make choices about LIFE that will create a greatness within, that will change people’s lives who have not even been born.

Topics:  Pray for insight to see the greatness in those we counsel, the greatness that comes from God; and that this insight will inspire good and Godly decisions.
