§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

II Timothy 1:5   Thought/Prayer:  Generational Effect.  Topics:  2 at end.

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelled first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.” AKJV (Read these scriptures and more at

Here we see portrayed an intergenerational influence toward faith.  We know that Lois, Timothy’s grandmother, was a woman of faith and scripture; we know that her daughter Eunice (Timothy’s mother) was of the same faithful persuasion; and we know that Paul considered his “son” Timothy to be the same:  a man of scripture and faith.  It is a very encouraging portrayal of real persons known by Paul.

We don’t know the ages of either of the women or when they came to faith.  They may have both been quite young, in comparison with today’s mothers and grandmothers.  In Biblical times, life expectancy was much shorter, and many consider that Mary, Jesus’ mother, was in her teens when He was born.  But it doesn’t matter, does it?  Even “youthful” (by present-day standards) grandmothers still fulfill the role of grandparent and can influence generations after them.  Paul told Timothy not to despise his youth, that it had value (I Timothy 4:12).  It may be that his mother and grandmother might have been younger than would be now thought.  But it doesn’t make a bit of difference. If they were young, they were not to be despised.

We see how generations can be so important in the lives of young people in families.  Lord, we thank You for giving us the portrayal of this ongoing influence in the life of Timothy’s family.  And if there is a chance to replicate this family tree of faith in our own families, help us to see how to do it.  Also, help us to see how to pass on this great plan of Yours (family, generation to generation) to others in LIFE crunches.  Help us to model this and to speak of it at times You would direct, thus leading to LIFE-choices.

Topics:  Pray for the ability to model generational effects toward faith, when circumstances allow it; and help us to pass on this positive plan to others.
