§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 40:11   Thought/Prayer:  Sheep:  Protected.  Topics:  2 at end.

“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.”  (DRB)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com

Ever heard of the substance called lanolin?  Probably so.  It’s that practical protection for sheep, located right in the wool on their backs.

It is not to be compared, of course, with the protection a good shepherd provides his flock, including good pasture, a fold for protection, and safety from wild animals that are warded off by the shepherd.  King David was a shepherd who actually reports, in I Samuel 17, that he killed lions and bears that attacked the sheep!  (This was when, with the giant Philistine Goliath looming in the background, David was explaining to King Saul that he was experienced enough to take on the 7.5-feet-tall Philistine.)  Now he was the ultimate protective shepherd!

Just like Jesus is.

No, lanolin does not protect sheep from predators, but it does provide a method of protecting a sheep’s wool and skin from the weather.  Lanolin has a waterproofing aspect that helps sheep shed water from their coats.  This can be important in a deluge because sheep carry their coats not just on their backs, but all over themselves!

Well, this was planned by God, of course, when He placed sheep on our planet.  And we humans benefit from lanolin extracted from wool in many ways, including the protection of, beautifying, and treating of skin.  But a sheep just carries this protection naturally.

God gives sheep lanolin, but their real protection in the face of danger comes from the shepherd.  And with The Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ, there is no need for application of lanolin.  He protects us (believers . . . His sheep) in every way possible, including warding off danger and keeping us dry and comfortable.

As believers, God protects us in ways both practical and divine. In our physical bodies, there are many protections built in, such as moisture for chewing and swallowing and the control of our body temperature in different environments of heat and cold.  And what about those blood cells that cause a scratch on our arm to disappear?  We thank Him for all of this unseen protection.

And we thank Him for the unseen-but-truly-there spiritual protection from above.  Philippians 4:7 (World English Bible), says, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”

Lord, we thank you.  Thank You, Lord Jesus, shepherd of our hearts and lives.  Help us to bring others in travail of LIFE decisions to come to you and learn of this.

Topics:  Pray for those struggling against others in LIFE situations, that the Great Shepherd will be known and His love and protection realized.
