§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 40:12, 13   Thought/Prayer:  The Bible’s Beautiful Waters, Measured.  Topics:  2 at end

“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?”  (WEB) Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

So much is said about water in the Bible, the ultimate form of water being Jesus Christ the source of the Water of Life.  In this passage from the prophet Isaiah, we have a beautiful description of God as Creator, forming the waters, the sky, earth (dirt) and mountains.  Especially notice how Isaiah describes God’s forming the water of our planet?  He says God “measured the waters in the hollow his hand, . . .”  Isn’t that pictorial?

We know God is all of everything and in all of everything.  So we might think of Him as . . . very large.  And He is.  No one can fathom Him.  So perhaps we think of His hand being a large one, cupped for water to sit in it, sitting in its hollow.  That’s what we say when we shape our hand into a sort of little bowl, if we want it to hold liquid.

So perhaps we think of God as so big as to be able to hold a whole lake or ocean in His hand’s hollow.  Consider the water in it to be blue or aqua in color.  Perhaps salty?  Or maybe fresh water.  And He sweetly measured the amounts of any of these.

However we picture it, Isaiah appreciated God’s creation of water and made it personal to God; all of God’s creation was personal to Himself – he even evaluated it and called it good (Genesis 1:9).

This passage brings God’s interest in His creation close to home to us, with His creative hand, hands made for us also.  We must thank Him often for the touches of scripture that bring Him close to us.  We must pray for families in LIFE struggles to know how personal God is with us, and how personal He is with the babies and older folks and the disabled that He brings to our world.

Lord, help us to remember how special we are to God, even to His very hands, hands that are recalled in this scripture about simple dirt, mountains, sky . . . and water.

Topics:  Thank God for his personal effect in scripture and help us to pass on to others the love God has for His creation, including all type of at-risk persons in our world.
