§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 51:16   Thought/Prayer:  The Shadow of His Hand.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And I have put my words in your mouth
and covered you in the shadow of my hand,
establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth,
and saying to Zion, ‘You are my people.’”  (ESV) Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, English Standard Version, copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved.

What can provide shade?  For one, a shadow.  We often say we will get in the shade, and we see a tree with a big shadow, and there we sit, cooling down.  The shade of a tree may protect us from the sun, but beyond that, protection could be minimal, although the effects of rain could be lessened by the leaves.  Not that the tree doesn’t have additional uses other than providing a covering, but when considering the benefit of shade, protection from the sun is the main advantage.

God’s hand covers us with a shadow of protection.  Isaiah 32:2 tells us that Christ is as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.  As the sun shines on a great rock, its shadow at its farthest reach reveals the size of the rock.  The bigger a rock, the bigger the shadow.  And our rock, God, covers us like no other.  He is the biggest Rock ever.  We stay cool, sheltered, and safe under His shadow.

Little children are fascinated with their own shadow, positioning themselves every which way to see what the shadow will do.  Babies in the womb, could they think ahead, would look forward to dancing with their shadow or the shadow of mom or dad.  Let’s pray them all into shadow-dancing.  Let’s ask God to honor their created lives in such a way that their mothers and fathers will understand that they must be born, even though perhaps unplanned.

Lord, help parents in difficult situations be able to think of what childhood is like and what their preborn persons could look forward to as children.  We ask you to convict those with unplanned pregnancies to think of these things when considering what to do about the pregnancy.  Help them think about childhood innocence and fun for the little life being carried in the womb.

Topics:  Pray for the pleasantness of childhood to be considered when parents debate whether to carry a surprise baby to term and birth.
