§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 54:13 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Taught of the Lord.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And all your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.”  (AKJV)  (Read these scriptures and more at

The Lord teaches us in many ways and at many stages of life.  The first great teachers of children, in a direct way, are parents.  It is up to parents to “train up” a child in many ways.  Unless there is a need for mitigating arrangements such as the result of death or illness, it is the parents who teach walking, talking, self-feeding, throwing a ball, riding a bike.  Sometimes the parents are adoptive or foster, or a family member “parents” a child because of adverse circumstances.

But how do children become “taught of the Lord”?  First, through parents or parent figures.  In Old-Testament Israeli times, if a husband/father died, it was up to one of his brothers to marry his widow and beget children by her in order to carry on the family name and inheritances.  The foremost way of teaching children of the Lord is in Christian homes where Jesus and the Bible have a prominent place.  Even very little children can get the meaning of someone singing “Jesus Love Me, This I Know” or “This Little Light of Mine.”

As children grow up, they can witness the practice of Christianity through the friends parents make and the events that come into the home, such as Bible studies or small groups formed through churches.  Hopefully there will be conversations with a believer’s slant that teen agers can pick up on.

Some of this home teaching is indirect.  That may work the best with teenagers!

But if there is no training-up in the Lord at home?  It’s never hopeless.  God is calling out to all of us, always.  There is a created place in all of our lives for Him; and there are amazing ways in which He reaches us even though we may not have been trained up in His ways.

This is where the prayers of Christians come as a great need.  As we pray for salvation for those we know . . . God knows about those we do not know.  Who is to say that He doesn’t consider those who were not immersed in His ways when He is answering our prayers for those we know?

We must pray.

Lord, help us to pray.  Help us to include all who need You – and that is everyone on Earth – in our prayers.  And we ask especially that Your spirit will be working in the hearts of those children whose parents do not know how . . . or simply will not . . . bring up their children to be taught of You.

Topics:  Lord, help us to pray.  Convict us to pray for those who are not brought up in a home where You are honored.
