§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 54:13 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  A Child’s Way.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And all your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.”  (AKJV)  (Read these scriptures and more at
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  (AKJV)

Proverbs 22:6 has different translations, a couple of which might be considered interesting.
Darby Bible Translation:  “Train up the child according to the tenor of his way, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Young’s Literal Translation:  “Give instruction to a youth about his way, Even when he is old he turneth not from it.”

The different wordings seem to emphasize slightly different intent.  All Biblical.  The most familiar words are from King James, but the Darby version uses the words “tenor of his way”; the Young’s translation may have more of an aspect of having a discussion with a youth about the way his life is going – instruction “about his way.”

American King James and Darby particularly include one idea:  Bring up a child according to his “way” – his (or her) own tendencies or capacities for things in life; the “tenor” (drift of, or gist) of his abilities and interests – the over-all feel of his or her life.

This may be difficult or easy.  Some “kids” just seem, early-on, to show interests and abilities in certain areas, such as a two-year-old who can hit a plastic ball with a bat literally every time . . . or a little songster who hums around, and is constantly singing at an early preschool age.

Sometimes these interests may cause family conflict as little kids grow into teenagers who, of course, have their own ideas of what their lives should be, whether wanting to skip college and try to make it in major-league baseball or going into a field not associated with music skills in any way, though musically, quite talented.

But for any parent the scripture basically applies.  Observe and learn enough about your child through time spent, in order to know the direction of their thoughts and interests.  This, also, may be difficult in a fast-paced society with sometimes little time to really spend with family at all.  God understands the need for living-earning and tight schedules.  But He also can help us find ways to “understand” our children.  Perhaps this is very good advice to pass on to a family that is trying to decide whether to bring another child onto Earth’s soil.  The very fact that someone reinforces that God loves them . . . loves even the entire family . . . can be most helpful in determining decisions about this situation.

Then there will be another person to follow his or her “way” and bents toward different areas in their lives.

Topics:  Pray for parents to help their offspring pursue pathways that develop the God-given abilities with which they came into the world.  Pray for parents hesitating about birthing another child, a child who could possibly be the next virtuoso leading a famed choir or orchestra or setting records for football yardage or baseball base steals.
