§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 54:13 (Pt. 4) Thought/Prayer: Taught of the Lord: “A Little Talk”.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And all your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.”  (AKJV)  (Read these scriptures and more at
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  (AKJV)

Proverbs 22:6 has different translations, a couple of which might be considered interesting.
Darby Bible Translation:  “Train up the child according to the tenor of his way, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Young’s Literal Translation:  “Give instruction to a youth about his way, Even when he is old he turneth not from it.”

Well, if some of the intent of the Young’s translation is to discuss with a youth, the way his life is going, it may not be easy!  Giving instruction to an upper-grade elementary student or a teenager can have its challenges! These kids can consider that their lives are just fine the way they are, and having someone try to sit in judgment (which is the way most advice from someone in “authority” is considered) may not be willingly taken.

But nevertheless, sometimes it is quite necessary to “. . . give instruction to a youth about his way.”  It seems that all parents have times in their parenting processes to have “a little talk.”  Those three little words may be the most resisted among teens.  “Well, son (or daughter), I think we need to have a little talk.”  Kids learn right away that these little-talk sessions usually are on topics of at least some conflict of viewpoints:  parent vs. kid.  If these were just a matter of two or three minutes and we’re done, no problem.  But, often if not usually, these “talks” may become quite lengthy as viewpoints clash . . . along with tempers . . . with voices escalating decibel by decibel.

Yes, guiding children, especially older ones who are not out on their own yet . . . but think they’re certainly ready to be . . . can be overwhelming.  But we must say what they need to hear.  We must not just hope things will turn out ok.

Hopefully in discussions—arguments?—like these some common ground will be found.  This is where answers to our ongoing prayers can make the difference.  This is the other part of knowing our children and teaching them of the Lord:  Prayers.  Prayers to a God who loves our children even more than we do and who does answer from His wisdom.

Lord, we pray that we may be faithful to pray, especially concerning the path our children are to take into their futures.  And may we give hope to families in LIFE crises, that they can see a future for their unborn babies, and that they will be taught of You.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom in families where there is strife and rebellion over the pathways children should walk.  Pray especially for the unborn who are at risk of untimely death – that, before birth – that their parents may see a future for these children.
