§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 55:8, 9   Thought/Prayer:  Sovereignty on High.  Topics:  2 at end.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

I’ve been beseeching God to help me be more faithful in my service to others, asking Him to convict me more and more every day.  I can ask him because I know that He is THE sovereign of all creation Who knows everything and can accomplish everything in us.

This brings me to want to share some thoughts about God’s sovereignty and ways of doing things.  I’ve been reviewing this Isaiah scripture recently.  And, interestingly enough, I’m back to reading about the heavens in conjunction with God’s thoughts.  We know that the heavens are extremely higher than Earth, and they extend so far as to be immeasurable by human means.  Oh, we peer and calculate and ponder the limits of what we call “the heavens,” but our hands-on experience goes no farther than Earth’s singleton moon!

When we look into the night heavens, we view as many of the myriad stars as our little arc above us over Earth will allow.  Jupiter and Uranus near the moon on a clear night were impressive.  God knew these planets would line up in our view on that particular night before He even created them and Planet Earth.

Last night rain and clouds sheeted them from our sight.  It was disappointing, especially for amateur sky-watchers wanting to get just one more photo, just beyond the line-up stage.  But God sees them just as He always does.  Which brings us back to His sovereignty.  He reigns as Sovereign.  High as the sky He reigns and beyond and beyond and . . .
How many stars are there?  More than googol (10 to the 100th power).  We can’t comprehend it.  Too many for us to understand.  New stars are being birthed all the time.  He names them.  They are there whether we can see their far reaches or not; they are not there weather-permitting.  They are just there.

When we in the pro-life march understand this, we can be bolder.  We can feel secure knowing that God is sovereign and that He will bless even our feeble attempts to go against abortion.  We don’t understand why legalized abortion hasn’t been wiped out over 35 years ago; our hearts are wrenched because of it.  But, God says that His ways are higher than ours.  We must accept that this is true.

But we can’t accept it without price.  God’s ways being higher is not an easy escape out of responsibility.  Rather this fact is our challenge to search out His heart and ways, to ask Him to reveal more of Himself all along, and to apply what He shares with us to our fight for LIFE.  We cannot know all of God’s ways – they are SO high.  But we can seek as much of Him as He will share.

God, let us continually ask You to reveal more and more of Yourself to us.  Open us up to a quest for You; help us to be quite dissatisfied with ourselves until we know that we have sought You faithfully and have searched for Your higher ways as far as above the heavens.

Topics:  Pray to seek God more today than yesterday and less than tomorrow.
