§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 62:4   Thought/Prayer:  Beulah Land.  Topics:  2 at end.

“You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah: for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

The words in this old gospel hymn written by Edgar Page Stites in either 1875 or 1876 with music by John R. Sweney(now in public domain) (music by John R. Sweney) may seem strange.  Beulah? The land of the Israelites will be called Beulah?

Isaiah is speaking prophetically about the future of Israel and Jerusalem.  When God brings about goodness in the land, after the trials experienced in Babylon; when the Israelites go home from Babylon, then the land – or Jerusalem - will be called Beulah, which means “married.”  (Many folks who used to sing this song in church, may have thought that Beulah Land was the nation of Israel – but some scholars think it was actually Jerusalem.)  In general, Israel will delight in God as married.  This is a blessing from God.

The lyrics to the song’s verses and refrain are really beautiful.  Here are the first two verses and the refrain. They speak of heaven as seen from Beulah Land.

“I’ve reached the land of corn and wine,
And all its riches freely mine;
Here shines undimmed one blissful day,
For all my night has passed away.

My Savior comes and walks with me,
And sweet communion here have we;
He gently leads me by His hand,
For this is Heaven’s borderland.”

Refrain:
“O Beulah land, sweet Beulah land!
As on thy highest mount I stand,
I look away across the sea
Where mansions are prepared for me
And view the shining glory shore
My heaven, my home forever more.”

Yes, it may seem an usual name for the land, for Jerusalem.  But it is so hopeful.  And we today as God’s children may rest assured that there is Beulah Land for us.  As believers, we know we will be in Heaven with the Lord God; perhaps we will go there from a Beulah Land that comes from faith.  Maybe we live in Beulah Land when living with the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.

This may not be “theologically” sound, and I apologize if it is not, but God is with believers all over the Earth, just as He was in Jerusalem at the time of Isaiah’s writing the words above.  Lord, thank You that we as believers know that from Beulah Land we will go to be with You in Heaven when we leave our earthly bodies.  Help the knowledge of this to give us a peace as we stand for created LIFE on Earth, a peace that will have those in struggles wanting to know more about Life and Beulah Land.

Topics:  Pray for the peace that we know as believers to come through to those for whom we work and pray.
